Bolton can’t win all their games if we win all ours.

We win all our games we stay up - it’s still in our hands.

    Tomorrow’s results cannot change that.

If Birmingham win we'd be five behind them both. That's not my definition of in our hands.

I see. But even if we beat Bolton we are 2 behind them, assuming we've matched their results up to then.

It is not in our hands anymore

With a game in hand and still to play Bolton. So if we win our remaining games we catch Bolton and stay up. That’s what in our hands means, surely?

We are 5 points behind Bolton. We are two behind Birmingham. It is not in our hands anymore. If we beat Bolton and match them from now to the end of the season they would finish two points above us.

If Bolton lose tomorrow and to us that’s 6 points more to us and we catch them. If they win or draw tomorrow we can catch Brum.

This extremely little word IF is being used a hell of a lot here. If we win this or if we win that, the odds arent too good on that happening are they!.

Well indeed but @redarmychris was just observing that it’s still in our hands and I thought it was an interesting and astute observation.

But it is still in our hands. Tomorrow’s result between these 2 teams doesn’t change that.

We'd still be two behind Bolton.

If they lose tomorrow we are still 5 behind them. We'd also be 5 behind Brum.

If we beat Bolton we would still be 2 behind them ASSUMING we'd matched their results to that point. To overtake them we need to BETTER their results up to and beyond playing them - hence not in our hands.

We’re 5 behind them now. If they lose tomorrow we’ll be 5 behind them with a game in hand. If we win that we’ll be 2 behind them on the same number of games. Then we beat them and we have 1 point more on the same number of games.

Wouldn't that assume that we match their results up to playing them as well?

We have done nothing since before Christmas, and well before then too tbh, to suggest we can avoid relegation.

The new forwards have made a difference, but I'm not sure the coach has made the most of things.

Hecky and The Sinking Ship Rats won't be in Div 1 next season.

We're walking to the end of the plank.

But we still need to win two more games than they do. We are relying on them getting less points than we do. It is not in our hands.

Yes but it’s in our hands which was Chris’s point. If we win all our games we stay up.

    Yet it is.

If Birmingham lose tomorrow and we win all our games we overtake them no matter what.

If Bolton lose tomorrow and we win all our games we overtake them no matter what.

If they draw and we win all our games we can potentially all finish on the same points if both teams win all apart from when Bolton play us. Only a massive goal difference swing would send us down.

See the above. If we win all our games then we will catch EITHER Bolton or Brum. The outcome of tomorrow’s game merely decides which that would be. Bolton and Brum could win every other game but after tomorrow’s game it will still be possible for us to catch one of them.
