No.. the point as always been that by January the mistakes had already been made by the... Oakwell higheracy.... And our hand was by then forced.
T"was last summer when players where allowed to run into their last year of deals that should never have happened. If we have a ... Plan.... Then it should stuck too
The same must happen this summer with Robbo and Yaidom..

Jimmy I thought the world of Connor but if he said that I think he was being a bit disingenuous. Do you really think we'd have seen the end of his contract approaching and not offered him a new one at the money we could afford?

Signing a contract doesn't make it any harder for them to get paid more does it?

If they sign a contract then any potential buyer is going to have to pay us a fee. From the player's point of view that inhibits their chances of being signed by someone else. Any clauses inserted to reassure the player will more or less amount to allowing him to leave for a pittance anyway so what's the point? The point of getting them to sign a contract is to benefit ourselves if offers come in. The player wouldn't want that as it may discourage the offer in the first place.

It's a tricky one that. I suspect when Ben left there wasnt a smooth transfer and matters were left, no offence intended, to someone with little experience, so it wouldn't surprise me If we didn't engage properly.
