With the rise and influence of the far right anti-Eu-party in Austria - the increasing dominance of the right anti-EU party AfD in Germany - the cosying up of the Hungarian PM Orban to Putin - the likelihood of other East European countries looking for trade deals with Russia - the poor standing of Macron in France with the anti-EU NF front leader LePenn breathing down his neck - with Italy openly discussing leaving the EU - with Greece and to some extent Spain financially broken etc. Whether the UK gets a good deal - bad deal - no deal, the EU is finished and will slowly collapse as countries look after their own interests.
What Brexit will actually mean. Removal of workers rights as per the attached which also guarantees right to pay holiday. What the right really wanted all the time but people are too daft to see.
I think you're wrong, but I genuinely despair that anyone could think the end of the EU and a collapse in to right wing self interest would be anything but a disaster for everyone. Sometimes it really does feel like the end of hope itself
I usually don't take part in political threads, but I believe you are correct and I called this right after our leave vote. I believe the EU will either eventually collapse or just comprise of Germany and countries indebted to Germany.
He's had his ups and downs but I think you're exaggerating the situation to suit your agenda. Here are the results of a survey published today:
This is what many on the Tory right had in mind all the time. Scrap the work time directive to end holidays and a ceiling on long working hours. Another example of Turkeys voting for Christmas. Will the people of this country ever learn?
Saddens me that erosion of workers rights is celebrated in some circles. we aren’t by any means perfect but chuff me let’s try and look after folk.
There was something in place before the EU work time directive but not as protective. Typical Sun ***** they try to sell it as extra money in overtime, yet fail to mention that if hours are increased then it’s not overtime and no mention of loss of holiday rights.
This Govt sets to look after only the interests of a priveliged minority, not the whole country’s best interests.
If the WorkTime Directive is scrapped it’ll not be a question of choice. It’ll be a case of work or walk ( not a choice really is it)Then good luck with trying to claim benefit if you’ve ‘walked from a job.
I remember a time when it was double time on Sunday, time and half on Saturday, stand in pay and short notice flat payments. Those things went out the window when the unions were squeezed by the tories. Now we have a large majority not in a union and as a consequence, flat payment for weekend working, zero hour contracts, come when we want you to without proper notice or reward and go home when we're not busy (without pay). So get ready for the insidious creeping in of longer working days, without due reward. It's the thin end of the wedge and we'll continue to descend into victorian working practices and throw away all that our forefathers fought for.
Of course it was. I said it before the ref and it’s blindingly obvious now. Still people get what they deserve.
Be assured the EU will be here 10 years from now even bigger in membership. To think it wont be is wishful thinking.
Nobody actually wants to, but my wife and I choose to, to provide for our kids and the longer term prosperity of our family. If you don't have to then great, unfortunately you have to have worked in certain circles to benefit from a reasonable pension.
You currently can if you choose to do so. But your employer can’t compel you to do so. Remove the WTD and they can compel you.
Choices eh, I took a drop in pay, to move to another job that had better long term prospects and a slightly better Pension Scheme. Sadly that has been significantly eroded by the Govts and will not benefit from my financial sacrifice.
Just rewatching QT .. and read the opening post.... fhs. Are you hoping we get a party in power like those you've mentioned. @dustani?
