We should be, they are only 3 points worse off than us same as pompey. So we have had very similar returns on our seasons so far with us just ahead. Yes over the short term they are both on poor runs but I wouldn't write either of them off.
Again Tbf to them they blew us away at their place in the opening 30 mins but 30 mins doesn't make a season.
On present form we win 1 in 3 games they draw all 3 and we still finish above them. I expected a minimum of 4 points from those games. It also means that there is less pressure on us when we play them at Oakwell.
We fell apart after the pen which was never a pen and maja one of the best young strikers outside of the prem had a really good game.
I’d be happy with 2 draws against Portsmouth and Sunderland that way they can’t make points up on us, we win them both great stuff
I personally don't think Daniel will let our lads get complacent. As we have said before, just concentrate on one game at a time and don't worry about the teams around us. Before they play us , Sunderland meet Gillingham and Plymouth at home and have to play Wycombe and Bristol Rovers away, plus they have a Football League Trophy semi final tie away at Bristol Rovers. Some of those teams will be embroiled in the scrap to avoid relegation, so there's plenty of potential for the proverbial banana skin(s) to occur.
They really do blow hot and cold, do Sunderland. They aren't dire when they get up a head of steam. But they don't seem to be able to play well for anywhere near like the whole of a game.
1st half they were shocking 2 centre half’s look liabilities and there positional sense was poor + it was just hoof ball which played into Accrington’s hands
Apart from Luton Town we have the best goal difference in the top six. That could stand us in good stead further down the line, if of course we are able to maintain the GD gap from the other teams.
Jack has lost his way a bit and doesn't know what his best side is at the minute. Chris Maguire has been great for us this season and is our second top scorer but for some reason has been left out recently but he changed the game for us when he came on at 0-2 down. I think we have a run in us but we need to get our act together quickly otherwise you and Luton will be gone.
We’re still waiting for Luton’s slip to come. To be fair to them it’s yet to happen. We’ve had a great run and it had taken us up past you and Portsmouth - but not by a lot. I think we are as good as anyone in the division, will beat most sides, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t got a couple of bad results in us. I think we will finish top two and I think we’ll finish above your team, but there’s no foregone conclusion. You’ve drawn a lot of games but you’ve been beaten only twice, that is some record and there’s a long way to go. Both of our forums seem to have a few unrealistic fans on, thanks for coming on to ours and making a considered post.
From the bits I saw, they defend very high up the pitch. Accrington seemed to be able to run through a few times. Hopefully we will have enough to cut through that.
Fair comments mate, agree with what you say and league position doesn't lie, the whole Maja situation derailed us and we are still adapting. I think we will turn it round but not enough to catch you and Luton as you are both seem unstoppable at the minute. You're right about unrealistic fans, we have a high number of lunatics but the majority are generally ok but don't take negative results too well. There are large numbers of mags who masquerade as Sunderland supporters and who go out of their way to wind people up. Really enjoy your forum, one of my best mates is a Barnsley supporter therefore I have a soft spot for your team and I like the way you play the game.
