    I’m happy I’m a left leaning socialist.

    Let’s not become America.

Im more centre than left or right but the absolute last thing I want us to do is move to an American model for just about anything and most definitely not healthcare - but thats exactly what the fanatical tory right want us to do

'The Market' does absolutely nothing for me, whether it's the cheapest rate for choosing a facility e.g. cheapest tender for a routine job or the more complex markets like healthcare or (the now privatised) utilities.

Profit in a healthcare (or in the case of utilities where competition is false and oligopolies rule) system is, to my mind just wrong - putting £ s d before one's health is just wrong.
There are a lot of call centre jobs in my neck of the woods - the Dearne valley - the contracts let are down to cost, whichever is the lowest tender gets the job. Price competition just drives down quality, as well as working conditions.
