Unfortunately I couldn't get to the game v. Fleetwood but there was an observation by a caller on Radio DeDarr that we were suspect in CM . I saw the same problem in the first half v. Coventry . From my vantage point I could see two lines of four (which was our downfall in several games last season) but in the second half we started with a diamond formation and dominated Coventry , scored the second goal but then went back to 442 and lost momentum . In the absence of Dougall could the answer be 352 with Pinnock as sweeper moving into DM ? Thoughts anybody ?
It would be harsh on Williams if dropped, i thought he had a very good game and we were quicker moving forward down the right,i think he deserves another start.
It's the most I have seen us dominate a game in a long time. The pair of them have played 43 games each this season so a small break will have done them good and we didn't suffer without them as we were able to put in two pairs of fresh legs as Adam Jackson and Jordan Williams have barely played for us. It was the first time in seven games we have won by more than two goals. It's the first time in 11 matches over two months that we have scored four in a game, which was a regular occurance in the first half of the season.
Would like to see 3-5-2....but would play Jackson with lindsey and pinnock, against Burton we looked swamped in the middle of the park so brown up with Woodrow, toby and danny pushed up leaves mowatt and McGeehan in place possibly styles or williams in and give mama a rest, just for shrews match as they also overran us in centre at theirs (after disposing of dougall)
Teams like Doncaster, Walsall, Burton and Coventry 'sussed out' how to play against us. The best teams and coaches are flexible in their thinking and can change things from the outset or during the game.
The best coaches usually manage a team performing well. We’re second and undefeated at home and you want to play a brand new formation? Did they completely suss us out or did we contribute to our own shortcomings? I’d scrap Coventry off that list by the way. Great game of football. Nobody sussed anyone out there
Some of you have lost the plot wanting to change formation despite having a defence that’s performed brilliantly for the vast majority of the season. It’s easy to look at the result & pretend everything was rosey because we won 4-2 but truth be told from half time to the moment their lad got sent off we were all over the place defensively & with the two one on ones they didn’t score we could’ve easily conceded four goals in the space of about 15 minutes. If 100% fit Cavare & Lindsay are straight back in for me. Been impressed with Lindsay all season & Cavare’s been superb most of the season apart from a dodgy month or so back around October / November time
That interception in the first few minutes when the guy was through was immense. Cavare would have shoved him over if he'd even kept up with him.
He has real pace & didn't waste a pass all game. Cavare is superb, but Williams put in a great performance. All Sh!twood's attacks came down Pinillos's flank, as he was struggling for pace second half, having just come back from injury.
