After the Fulham game, I'm meeting other members of the family in Central London (near the Strand) for a bite to eat, before our train home.

Any suggestions for a family friendly place, preferably Italian food, but otherwise roast dinners?

Can't be The Cole Hole, as the other half will forever remember dining there after the Deedars lost at Wembley. :)

You mean the Coal Hole, obviously. :)

Try a place just along the street from there. The Ritz, or something like that.....

I haven't been down The Strand for a while. I thought maybe Andrew Cole had bought it, and renamed it:)

Haha. He likes a Flat Cap does Andrew Cole. Maybe he has.

The Ritz though ... a bit scruffy for my liking. :)

Not Italian but Mediterranean the street in front of the coal hole, Southampton street, small place called bistro 1. Very reasonable prices for London and always found the food enjoyable. Turkish and Greek inspired. It is on the left as you look up towards Covent garden from the Cole hole.

I was there that night. I remember seeing a grumpy miserable looking bloke sitting in a corner. His daughter was struggling to console him while trying desperately to disguise a giggle.

There are a few decent looking places round Sloan Square (we're going on the Megabus to Victoria Bus station so only a 10 minute walk to get the bus).

    Match tickets £20 *2
Megabus from Coventry £8 return *2
    30-mile drive to Cov & return £7

Cheap day out in the smoke I'd say.

Is the Coal Hole anywhere near the Glory Hole? It's been a while :D.
