Read an article today. Barcelonas Neymar is on £70 k a week. Apparently Jonjo Shelvey of Newcastle can top that with £80 k per week. Benitez is allegedly the ninth highest paid manager in a World football. Incredible.
Slightly skewed at the minute due to the very weak pound against the euro, but still pretty astonishing I agree. Apparently Rhodes is on 60k at Wednesday! Hooper and Forestieri on 40k. How this actually complies with FFP, I have absolutely no idea. But then FFP seems to be an absolute joke. No way Brighton should have been allowed to get away with running up such losses.
The articles wrong. Neymar's on a lot more than that. Even with the huge wages of Shelvey & Benitez, Newcastle still made a lot of money last summer in players sales & trimming of the squad & they get 50k a week so they don't bother me as much as other clubs who've abused the parachute payments
Just shows we should not trust what we read .!!! Don't know when the article was written. Might have been before he signed a new contract. Is Messi the highest paid player in the World (€40 euros) or has Neymar eclipsed that.?
Had Costa gone to China, back in January, £100million was touted as his potential annual salary. Not sure what the taxation is in China, but even so, that is beyond ridiculous.
Just found this. I was wrong about Tevez. http://financefootball.com/2017/05/18/is-lavezzi-the-highest-paid-football-player-in-the-world/
Not only stupid but immoral. For kicking a bag of wind around a piece od grass! And people complain about what CEOs of multi-national companies earn. Then you get players with low IQs like Rooney throwing half a million away in two hours at a casino...! It is sickening.
I have no objection to the money footballers are paid. They are the earners, not the managers, coaches, CEOs, or the tea ladies. What I do object to is the tax dodging which goes off. Where should the money go if not to the players? Do One Direction earn their money?
The site where I saw the comment about Neymar was 888sport.com headed Tips News Views under " How much do Championship Players Get paid".? It mentions that Ipswich, Preston and Barnsley can pay circa £10k to the right player. The article appeared in October 2016.
