Why would you want BFC owned by a Chinese company with no real interest in the town, or its people?

You generally post some really good arguments. But I really don't get your train of thought when any other football club smaller than us gets taken over, that they're a more attractive proposition than us.

Maybe it would cost more to purchase Barnsley than this particular Chinese businessman is willing to pay. Maybe we don't deem him fit to own our football club. Maybe we have no interest in selling to someone who may not have the clubs best interests at heart. Maybe Northampton's new owner has a grandparent who was born in Northampton, and he's wishing to revisit his roots.

There's tons of reasons why Northampton may have a Chinese owner and we don't. The last of those is probably that they're a more attractive proposition.

If I chose to buy a Fiesta rather than a Rolls Royce, does that mean a Fiesta is a more attractive proposition?

And maybe, just maybe - our present owner wants to continue with his hobby - no matter what - even though he knows that he hasn't enough money to move us on further.

As much as we would all like a billionaire from Barnsley to invest in the club, realistically, overseas investment will probably happen at some point in the future and it may not be a bad thing. Look how well its worked for the likes of Leicester.

I don't think they are more attractive. That's the point I'm making. It's a bit galling when Bournemouth and Northampton are securing foreign investment and we're struggling along selling our best players and stuffing the money under the mattress. Yet supposedly there's never been any interest in buying the club.

Why shouldn't we have overseas investment?
Countries like China are awash with money and there are people there that would love to get involved in English football.
Part of the sale could be a deal to maintain Patrick Cryne and Barry Taylor and maybe other Barnsley supporters on the board of directors.
It would also be very advantageous to keep Maurice Watkins on the board.

    Well done Northampton Town.

So essentially you want a foreign investor to take over, leave the current setup in charge, and sponge money out of the club. Why exactly?

Pretty sure he's suggesting keep the current set up in charge but spend more on players/wages rather than sponge money out of the club.

    Another thing about additional funding.
Although it would be nice - it doesn't really need billions throwing at the club.

But what it does need is for Hecky and staff to be able to compete a little better in the transfer market - and be able to retain some of the players they have worked their ballax off getting up to speed.

Patrick needs to get his coat on and get around the world and sell the club like he sold iSoft to the world.
If he's too poorly to do that now then he needs to employ someone to do it.

    Where does Nudge say that?

    Be reasonable.

Plus it's amazing how Johnny foreigner is welcome to our shores to live here and do all manner and measure of things, except invest in BFC.

We seem to have got to a point where it seems on here that the only possible alternative to the current set up is an asset stripper who will bankrupt us.

    I agree.
As bad as those who think there are no suspicious potential buyers, but as long as it's not Patrick Cryne owning the club, we're automatically going to be better off.

That's his prerogative. He doesn't have to sell up if he doesn't want to.
