Guest on today's Football Focus. Even though I don't really care for Sheffield United, you have
got to admire Chris Wilder. He comes across as someone who has a real sense of humour and
appears to be a deep thinker where football is concerned. On the subject of the recruitment of players, he said he identifies the players he wants and that he could never work at a Club where players are bought for him and then he would be expected to shoehorn them into the team. Dan Walker asked him why he still takes the local 51 service bus from where he lives to Bramall Lane and back. He said, its because he has always liked catching the bus, because he loves a pint. A fan had sent a message in for him saying that he would like to treat him to a Fish and Chip dinner. He said to Dan Walker, that he would, if they went to his and Dans favourite chippy in Sharrow. Must be a pleasure to be round the bloke, he seems so down to earth.

That’s okay while ever Wilder stops at the Lane but when he goes they will be reliant on whoever replaces him to pick up the reigns. Chances are he will not be as good as Wilder.
We all want Stendel to stop at Oakwell for a long time but he will go sooner or hopefully much later. When that happens it will not affect player recruitment because the system will still be there to provide continuity

Got a fairly average group of players playing out their skins 2 seasons running, the 2nd time resulting in a promotion to the promised land. I get the feeling they're gonna go down hill quickly if he ever leaves.

Can’t be an average group of players if they are promoted to top league

To be fair on paper as individuals they do look average Edna Stevens got promoted with Northampton under wilder from league 2 now he is a premier league player. Football's a team game and wilder sets his team up well and gets the best out of the players he has. I think they will struggle next season but Compared to stoke who had team who was full of stars who should have finished much higher up Sheffield United and wilder have punched above their weight this season imo.

He's a gusher. Interviewer asks him a question and he just talks and talks.

Suppose were not used to people in football being so open. In one way it's heartwarming, but in another, it's as boring as **** and you just want him to answer and give someone else a go.
