There's several good choices to be picked from imo.
It's not as if there's anything in that article that anyone wouldnt guess at, regardless of where they read it.

Plenty of decent choices - I have no preference. Just pick the luckiest guy ;)

The bit about getting a manager similar to Johnson or Heckingbottom could go either way.

Hecky only did well on the back of having a really good squad then tailed off really badly, and Johnson is just Johnson, sometimes successful, sometimes rubbish - just very erratic.

You would hope that the new guy will be inheriting a good league one squad, and that some of them will progress further, but who knows until a ball is kicked?

It’s the weakest piece of journalism I’ve seen in years.
    Doug O’Kane.
That article on the back page is Absolutely atrocious !!!
He hasn’t a clue - and neither has any other journalists.
They are grasping at straws because IMO no manager in Britain has been approached - hence no leaks for journalists to pick up on.
It’s highly unusual what’s happening at Barnsley right now.

Very unusual which makes me think this may be an appointment none of us see coming . If it enthuses the fanbase that’ll do for me !

"Barnsley have begun their interview process for the vacant head coach position"
    So not manager then.
That will rule out the vast majority, so I expect we'll end up with tenth choice from Gobshite United whose dream it was to be able to park his car in a space near the training ground so he doesn't have far to carry the bibs and cones.

I have been told that we’ve identified preferential candidates and compiled a shortlist but are awaiting the outcome of the play offs which would seemingly place Paul Hurst on said shortlist.

Yep - I’ll be more shocked if it’s a run of the mill lower league manager - than a manager from abroad.
We need someone to get the fans excited - and also someone who can kick the ar@e of the players to get them motivated.

Not at all, I’m just commenting on a thread and sharing what I’ve been told by someone else who may or may not be, I have no idea.

For me, that reads as "We've no idea who the club wants, so we'll quote the names mentioned on various social media sites".
The ghost of Jason Barker rears it's head!:D

I said that the other day, that we'll be waiting for those to be over. If Shrewsbury go up he may decide to stay put, or may see us as a better long term option. Surely we can offer higher wages, even if they do go up though?
