Has the UK Government released any similar document to the British public to clarify the overall strategic plan? http://www.salute.gov.it/portale/nu...ieNuovoCoronavirus.jsp?lingua=english&id=5208 Meant to add... just got back from hospital this morning. I have a spot that appeared recently on my forehead which I think is a wart. I went to my doctor last week and she wanted to confrirm it is not anything more serious so referred me to the epidemiology department at the Hospital and gave me a prescription for an appointment. I went today to make one expecting, due to Covid it being a long wait. Next Wednesday 16th December!! Amazing! Italy's economy is on its knees but the Health service here with things like screening programmes, waiting times and quality of practitioners and facilities (albeit some of the buildings are a bit tired) frankly, highlights the funding issues that have so badly affected the NHS in spite of the dedication and expertise of the staff. People we know who still divide their time between here and the UK increasingly tell us they prefer to use the Italian Health service in preference to the NHS due to much shorter waiting times, less pressure on GPS (no appointments needed and no set time limit on consultations). Italy has its problems without doubt, but most services are still run for the benefit of the people and not a used as a cash cow for private businesses nor starved of govt cash.
Do you mean British, English, Welsh, Scottish or Northern Irish? IIRC we have 5 different bodies involved and some are (much) better than others.
Generally people I know from all over UK are saying waiting times are increasing and staff under intolerable pressure. Plenty on here complaining about routine ops etc cancelled. I have no personal experience. My own dating back a few years now ...I have nothing but praise for the staff of BDGH. My daughter was born there, hospitalised once while still a baby, (chronic asthma attack) . I had a cancer scare, biopsy and and op a few year and a tricky cyst expertly removed from next to a tear duct a couple of years later before that and from consultant through to SENs, everyone was fantastic.
Issues with the NHS and peoples opinions are based upon anecdotal evidence. My own recent experience has been the service has been rapid and of the highest quality. Six weeks ago my PSA tests revealed a higher than normal count. My GP booked me an MRI scan which showed something on my prostate. I then had biopsies taken, followed with a meeting with an oncologist who confirmed I had an aggressive cancer (Gleeson score of 9/10) of the prostate. On Tuesday this week I had a bone scan to determine if it was localised or has it spread. Tomorrow is the MDT meeting on the results. My anecdote is that I can have no complaints on waiting times or quality of service of the NHS.
Hope all goes well. I believe experiences and therefore opinions vary both here and in UK depending, in part, where you live. As I said I and my family never had anything less than excellent care from BDGH and the NHS in general. Talking to friends both here and in UK, some heavily populated areas e.g. some areas in the South of England and in the North here, appear to have more shortages and delays in treatment than other areas. The extreme South West here also suffers from poor facilities and shortages but that is a different issue - corruption and infiltration of public services by the 'Ndrangheta Mafia.
A&E at Barnsley is sometimes atrocious, sometimes very good. But the specialist units are amazing. The NHS and its staff are criminally underfunded though - not surprising really, with the criminals "in charge" of it.
