Does anyone know the least number of home wins in a season? The least in my lifetime is five in 2013/14. We need to win two from our last five to match this, which I can't see. I was wondering if we are aiming for a club record.
This gives a list of all our seasons: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Barnsley_F.C._seasons You can order the list of seasons by how may we won, but unfortunately it doesn't separate the home and away games. You can then look at the individual seasons which does. Our worst ever season was 1952-53 where we only won 5 games. 4 of those were at home and I think that's our lowest amount of home wins. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1952–53_Football_League
Thanks for that Jay. So we need one more win from five to equal our worst ever record, but that was four wins from 21, so percentage wise we would be that bit worse unless we win more than four. Come on lads - let's aim high!
I think its quite possible that if we don't get a win on Saturday we might not get another win all season nevermind 2 at home
I think it is quite possible we will win on Saturday and many on here will have F***k all to moan moan about!
Not a moan, just an opinion based on the season so far, and the belief that another failure to win a very winnable game at home will sap what little confidence might be left in the team. Personally hope we go out and smash everyone from now till the end of the season.
You're right - if we manage four home wins in fourteen months I'll be hoping for an open top bus parade.
The Chronicle last week said if we don't beat Norwich or Millwall we'll have gone 10 home matches without winning, equalling the club record. So we'll set a new record if we don't beat Millwall or Bristol City. Well at least we'll have beaten something.
Millwall are going very well at the moment I think they’ve won last 4 away games. Winnable?. Think Brizzle are more winnable than Millwall.
We've already gone 10 home games without a win. Since beating Birmingham on 4 November, there has been Cardiff 0-1, Leeds 0-2, Derby 0-3, Preston 0-0, Reading 1-1, Wolves 0-0, Fulham 1-3, Sheff W 1-1, Burton 1-2 and Norwich 1-1. The club record is said to be 11 home games without a win in 2012/13, although I haven't checked this. Edit: 11 home games without a win in 1952/53 as well (Source: The Official History 1887-1998 Brian Dennis)
2012/13 From beating Bristol City 1-0 on 2 September 2012, we didn't win a home league game again until 12 January 2013, 2-0 vs Leeds. 11 games.
While i appreciate that they have been on a decent run of late it wasn't too long ago they were being touted as one of the teams we believed to be worse than us to give us a chance of staying up. Not an easy game but yes i would say winnable
Very well they haven't lost in the league since new years day I believe. Away form is strong too, while every game is winnable this one is much tougher than the Norwich one I think.
It turns out that we were wrong when we thought they were a team that might be worse than us. Currently only 6 points off the playoffs and second in the current form table ( Top for away form having won their last 5 away games ) Its a lot more difficult than the Norwich game. We need to win it but I will be pleasantly surprised if we do. Forest is the only relatively easy home game we have left
