I'm so torn as I really want Argentina to be knocked out but there's also a lovely year 7 lad at school who is Argentinian and he gets so excited every time he talks about the World Cup. He's been given me the run down on all the different scenarios that would involve Argentina staying in all week. As he's 12 this is probably his first proper World Cup that he'll be aware of what's happening.
have you forgotten the Falkland then... I served it and lost friends there... will never ever want them to win at anything.
have you forgotten the Falklands then. I served then and lost a good many mates . I will never ever want them to win at anything.
Just don't get the hatred for Argentina. Hope they win tonight and go on to win the cup. Always liked them and they wear a smart kit. Gotta love Messi.
Sorry to heat that but this is a football game and the Argies dont get me that way neither do the Germans. How many did yer lose at Old Trafford by the way.
I bet you're also one of those people who seem to believe that "everyone hates England" or that there's always some great conspiracy against England. (Not that either of these arguments are true...) I can't understand why you people are so obsessed with past wars. None of the Argentinian players were even born at the time...
But you do realise that the Argentinian soldiers were just young lads sent to a pointless war, waged by a despotic government for their own ends? I'm truly sorry that you lost friends there, but you're blaming the wrong people. Try Thatcher and her cynical military action which was launched to revive her flagging ratings.
I live in Scotland and England or English people are not hated. I'd imagine Wales is similar. I'd say dragon it's you who has the problem. Are you happy that Germany are out. We're you supporting Korea or did the Korean war put you off them.
I know you did not say all or everyone but you did suggest in a sweeping statement to a young Finnish lad that Scots and Welsh are English haters.
There's a fine line between rivalry and hatred indeed. I'd say that it's better to keep politics and wars out of football, there's too much hatred in football already.
