Randomly wondered what Nice's average attendance was to see how they compare in terms of 'self-sustainability' and last season it was just under 23000 in a season where they qualified for the Champions League.

Must admit I was thinking mid-30000's at least, I know they'll get much better TV money but I bet we're talking fractions of the Premier League still.

Interesting given some of the players they have who will be on big wages.

Depends on how well they are doing in generating other revenue streams. Gate receipts are not the be all and end all of modern football

They've just moved Wesley Sneijder on who would have been on a fair whack.

At one home game they had only 8,000 and at another they had 32,000. They were near the relegation places in November but 5 wins out of 6 as put them up to 6th. They were 2-1 up at 4th placed Monaco last night but Falcao equalised in the 92nd minute. Looking like they could be competing for the European spots again.

Oh and their ticket prices range from 8 euros to 50 euros. Interesting we had Wolves at cat C over the weekend.

Fingers crossed, there is a more open minded attitude to cheaper and varied ticket options in years to come.

They're a smaller club than the name and city suggests, but still have good pedigree in the French top division. Their old ground was quite small and dilapidated and perhaps gives a better context of the historical size of the club. I may be wrong, but I think Nice and Monaco both get a fair amount of floating supporters depending on the fixture and recent success.

They have 10 categories but I don't know how much input Chien and his consortium have, they don't own as much as they do here.

Wonder if they told the fans?

Previously the method here was make it a tenner, don't tell anyone, then claim the experiment didn't work.

I gather they were lucky that Nice was a host city in the Euro's so government and local council basically funded the ground, no idea what terms they have it on, can't be anything too ridiculous as who else is going to use it?

That's international investor group, I thinks that's split between Pacific Media and others.

That is crackers pricing, suppose long term if you can get a few addicted to supporting the club it's a good way to do it. Suppose if I hadn't only been paying a fiver or so as a young 'en I wouldn't be going now as none of my family were active supporters, I just went with mates.

The free season tickets for under twelves works at Oakwell as I started my youngest grandson when he was six with the free ticket & now as he approaches his 15th birthday , he is hooked , he rarely misses & obviously his ticket is now paid for at the going rate

Same with my son. First game was when he was not quite 5 years old, v Doncaster (that game when Rennie sent off Austin and Kay). Had the benefit of free season ticket and the concessionary rates. Now 17, he too is hooked on Barnsley. He now goes with his own mates rather than his Dad though!

In both cases the investor consortium owns 80%, and the old owners have retained 20%.

Alex Zheng owns 40% of that, Chien owns the other 40.

According to Wikipedia Chien owns 40%, Conway 20% and Zheng 20%. Not sure how accurate that is to be fair.
