Worst in the league last season. Nothing I have seen so far shows we are any better this season. If so we are again in for a relegation battle. It's great that we create so many chances and play good football, but if we need 10 chances to score a goal we will more than likely struggle to pull away from the bottom end of the table.
I'll worry when we stop creating chances. Last night aside, we've looked fairly solid at the back. The goals conceded at Reading were when we were short-handed. Luton, Forest and Boro we've looked ok, with plenty of positives.
Last season we were 4th overall in expected goals per game. 6th at home and 4th away. We were only above Middlesbrough in terms of goals scored. Based on our expected goals we should have netted 78 goals (rounding up), we actually scored 49. For comparison (at random) Preston expected = 64, actual = 59 and Blackburn expected = 57, actual = 66. We were level at the top with Stoke in the 'failed to score' table, 16 times we failed to score. Source https://footystats.org/england/championship/xg#
