I keep hearing that people have contracted the virus, and tested positive (friends of friends) in all parts of Barnsley. Then I look at sky news which displays confirmed cases per town and it’s currently at 2 (peak was 5 a few days ago).

Is the info on sky wrong or are people just making it up.?

It’s basically impossible to get a test unless you’re dying, so people are self diagnosing or being told that they likely have it by 111 (111 tells you you likely have it if you have a fever or a cough)

The figures reported are confirmed cases that have been tested.

Not necessarily dying, but admitted to hospital. So we basically had ~1900 cases in hospital yesterday and can expect that to increase by around 500 today. With ~1600 hospital sites in the UK, that is around 1 person admitted to every 3 hospitals. If the rate of infection increases, that will be around 1000 per day by this time next week (and ~6000 in hospital).

I was hyperbolising with the dying thing, but yes.
