https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ate-your-own-draw-for-russia-2018-interactive Random draw based on rankings which grades the strength of each group. In mine, England got Saudi Arabia and Egypt and were predicted to get knocked out!
Ahhh, takes me back to being a kid and having my own Subbutteo World Cups. Don't think England ever won even though I played against myself (I'm aware that's open to misinterpretation).
England drew Germany and lost to Brazil in the second round. Peru beat Brazil in the final. Given that Peru, Colombia and Uruguay will be kept apart from Brazil and Argentina we have a 2/5 chance of ending up in a group with one of those two.
Is it completely random? As on mine it has Uruguay to beat Peru in the final. England to get out if their group of Poland, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, but to lose to Portugal in the round of 16.
I used to do this too. I had number stickers so I even created my own teams. I had Chris Woods in nets, Des Walker right back etc. England's best player and top scorer for me was Brian McClair. For a few weeks at least, until my best mate told me he was Scottish.
I used to paint the numbers on. I had loads of teams but the best balanced seemed to be the one with blue shirts and white shorts so Everton and Italy were always winning stuff.
Five draws - and in every one England lost to Argentina in the final having been in the group stage with Poland from pot one and having beaten France in the semifinals. Only the pot three and four teams changed. How the frig are Poland better than Spain and England in FIFAs eyes btw?
Something to do with not playing friendlies for the last couple of years so that the only results that count towards their ranking with the most weight are their qualifying group games in a fairly easy group. http://www.givemesport.com/1195641-...nkings-to-reach-pot-one-in-the-world-cup-draw
Aye, silly me The organisation that decided a summer world cup in a desert micro-state was a winner...
