Looks real bad unfortunately. Lot of folk trapped on the upper floors.

Has undergone a multi million pound "facelift" but some residents are saying they reported that in their view
the building was a fire hazard. Some are saying that to their knowledge the fire alarm
    systems failed to go off.!

London FB confirm fatalities. Reports of people jumping from the building.

One of my worst fears, being trapped like that. Awful, thoughts with the victims. :(

Dreadful news. There are going to be many dead and those that escaped will have lost everything. It seems from initial reports that the fire alarms didn't go off. There are no fire escapes just one staircase and the building went up in a matter of minutes. Something very wrong there.

From an interview with a resident this morning, new cladding was installed last year and it seemed to go up very fast. Sounds like that building in the Middle East (Dubai?) that went up a year or so back. Seems very surprising that the fire alarms and presumably sprinklers didn't work.

If that's the case someone is going to find themselves in jail.

No sprinklers fitted. Not required under legislation.

I did read earlier that the review into the housing legislation after the Clerkenwell fire in 2009 has been continually delayed by a certain Conservative Housing Minister who is now employed as the assistant to Mrs May after losing his seat in the election....
