It may be legal but it certainly doesn't help. I personally find cyclists a real pain in the arse but I do give them room and don't try to scare them however seeing the way some of them ride I can see why so many are involved in accidents. I honestly think some of them go out of their way to cause problems.
Re: Agree entirely Because an ever growing number totally disregard the law. It's bedlam round sheff at rush hour some days.
Pretty dangerous if it hits you and knocks you off, easy to act like a ***** from inside a metal box.
Re: In my experience You need to be very careful writting this stuff in the public domain, as it could be used against you if you were to injure a cyclist. I ride a winter and full carbon summer bike. I ride to the higway code, and expect car drivers to do the same. In my experience it is the drivers who are "not used" to seeing cyclist who are the danger. For some reason they MUST overtake, which has meant cutting in on me before it is safe to do do eg on blind blends, or when turning left 100m further up the road. As a cyclist, when I am in my car(s) I show respect to cyclists, as a knock to a cyclist can be fatal. I'd say 99% of car drivers are respectful.
look, theres arseholes on both parts, Bikes can be an nuisance, when 10 plus are all out and blocking the road, on on the flip side the ****ers that get up their arse and scream by them honking horn and cutting them up, simple FACTS. it's not illegal to ride 2x 2 and motor drivers HAVE to give enough road room when overtaking as you would another motor vehicle. or and the moaners about cyclist, if and I doubt it, you have ever hit a pothole or a grate on a bike, and come off at 30 mph if fcking hurts a lot, (if in some cases killed people) you will see why the road positioning is how it is Have a nice day stay safe
I ride a bike and drive a car - so i see the good and bad of both. Im the first to shout at cyclists going through red lights (especially the one who turned across a junction and caused me to hit the side of his car at 20mph) Most drivers are pretty good, some are ****ing planks.
Thanks for the warning and I know you are totally right there, cos I get the distinct impression that the arsehole/stereotype cyclist Im referring to would love nothing better than litigation against a motorist and accept not one ounce of responsibility. Classic example, the other day I was pulling out of the Tescos on Huddersfield Road around tea time, a busy time for the road, view obscured slightly by parked cars but politely waved out by another motorist, only to have a 'Bradley Wiggins' coming pelting down the road obviously trying to beat his best time to Cawthorne or summat, I had to slam on or he’d have gone straight over the bonnet, as he flew past I got the middle finger from him but did notice he had his ipod on. The other motorist shook his head btw. Isolated incident? Nope, Ive had numerous run ins and I’d wager that whilst the TdF is on the road will be crammed with similar arrogant angry middle aged wnkrs with something missing in their life but hey their lycra and grands worth of push iron makes them invincible. Oh, and without prejudice, I’d never deliberately endanger a cyclist.
Re: Thanks for the warning And can cyclists make their f.cking minds up as to if they are road users or pedestrians and stop using Pelican crossings please. My daughter was nearly wiped out by one who was trying to short cut a road junction last Sunday. Knew what he'd done too, cos stopped to look then ****** off sharpish.
Re: Thanks for the warning Even the "the middle finger" waving Hudds Road one? And on that note, I'm now gonna put me lycra on my middle aged body, and go for my lunch time ride on my summer bike .... rigidly sticking to the Highway Code !!!!
Cyclist riding 2 abreast is fine when they are aware of their surroundings. But when you drive behind "club" cyclists who think 6+ abreast is fine that is when I hate all cyclists! ( I cycle, before you start). They look at you like you are the spawn of the devil, while I'm sat there in my car which is taxed( to pay for upkeep of roads and improvements) and insured(so cyclists can claim off me because i got a bit near to them).
you cant play the I pay tax and insurance card, I have 2 cars that are both taxed and have insurance, and I am a keen cyclist, so I also pay for the up keen of the road that I cycle on
A piece of black tarmac goes into a bar and says "Give me a pint and make it quick because I'm hard and scared of no-one". Just then, a piece of red tarmac comes up to the bar and the black piece dashes into the toilet. After a while he come out and says "Has he gone yet?" The barman says "What's all this I'm scared of no-one?" The black tarmac replies "No-one messes with him, he's a cycle-path"
Get thi dummies back in thi gobs! Car tax as well as council and income tax go towards new infrastructure projects to build new roads, widening and tunnels.
