https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...main-remarkable-one-me-daniel-stendel-2996472 Good read, open to returning to British football If only we could get him back, I think it would be a win win for the club
Great article. We all got his passion & it was great to see him on the touchline kicking every ball. His style of football to get us promoted was great, perhaps was found out at Championship level without a Plan B But the memories of not losing at home for a full season will always remain.
I loved DS and would love him back. I truly think that if he was backed like GS was we would have been fine. He was desperate for a Sollbauer type defender in the summer but didn't get one. We had the best defense in the league in L1 and often looked solid. If he was able to pick a few defensive players instead of letting 'the spreadsheet' do the picking he would have been fine.
When making comparisons it should be done on a like for like basis. The championship team was different to the winning L1 team and it included many without championship XP, in fact it's core had been ripped out. I don't think the lack of a plan B had owt to do with it. More the lack of time to blend a new team and let them gain the XP. No plan B would have improved that team, but additional experience could.
The 10pm curfew would put him off coming because of the limited time he could spend in his beloved Garrison.
And there’s me thinking it was because he had the legs chopped from under him with the loss of Davies, Pinnock, Lindsay and Moore.
Very hard done by, by the owners so won’t be returning. Which is a real shame as it would be just the boost we need. If only they’d backed him like they did Voldemort.
He struggled to think of a plan B, when plan A was quickly exploited in this league. Thanks for the memories, but no, I don’t want him back whilst we’re in the Championship.
Half way through he states: “This makes the football more attractive while fair play is still in the mind of the players." “The focus is more on how to be better than the opponent without trying to get easy free-kicks or penalties. " I disagree, but if he thinks teams here don't try to get easy free kicks and penalties what the hell is it like in Germany?
Great honest coach. Loved his mindset. Was let down by the owners. He wasn't backed like Struber, and i would have him back in a heartbeat however I can't see that happening under this outfit.
I miss Stendel, wrongly sacked because they saw a chance to get Struber, who let's be fair hasn't worked out and ditched owners as soon as he could. Stendel just needed backing, his football works, he made Hearts look better and get some good results when they were all but relegated. Deserved to keep the job there
He established such a great connection between the club, the fans, the town - the like of which I'd not seen since the Clarkey/Hunter days. It was a genuine shame went it went sour; it all evaporated so quickly.
Yeah because he was sending out a losing team week in week out. Struber didn't add to the squad until January. So his first few wins were achieved with Stendel's squad.
