33 year old Newcastle striker signed by Notts Forest for £2million on a 3 year deal.

Haven't Forest very recently had financial problems?

At least they are learning from the errors of their ways.

Yes but they've just banked a good wedge of money from selling Assambalonga, so £2 million is small change

£13 million profit difference between the signing of Murphy and the sale of Assombalonga.

What a bit of business by Rafa. He bought Murphy for (as a result of promotion) £4M. He has now sold him on for £2M. Murphy scored 5 league goals in 14 appearances, including the match winner against Brentford and goals in the wins against Rotherham and Huddersfield. Brought in to specifically help the promotion push and now moved on with 50% of his cost recovered. That is a clever bit of business considering the financial rewards of return to the Premier League.

Or they could not have signed him for £4 million, still got promoted and would have been £2 million better off.

Still its all gravy in the grand scheme of things.

I reckon they probably got promoted due to their squad being on 3/4million pounds a week wages which is good business if
    A) you can afford it
    B) the gamble comes off

Thing is though, I reckon they cover their wagebill with their season ticket revenue alone. I doubt we do that.
