    heard two seperate rumours today about someone called Dave Kelly in running for us? cannot find any info as who exactly this is though, is it internal

    There's a Dave Kelly who is a senior sports scientist at Man Utd. Im guessing this is the same person as mentioned on the other thread. His linkedin shows him as being at Oakwell as head of sports science from 96 to 09.

    Im sure the guy is vastly experienced in his field but head coach? Cant see it myself! Bloody hope not anyway.

    must be him then, found this on google some Chronicle article from years ago

    "Eric Steele (former goalkeeping coach) started calling me 'the Barnsley chop' a few years ago and Sir Alex latched onto to that because he likes Barnsley as his brother Martin played for them. Sir Alex still calls me that every time I see him. Paul Scholes always asks me about Barnsley and if I think they will stay up because they are usually at the wrong end of the table unfortunately."

    Kelly was invited by former Reds boss David Flitcroft to run a training session at Oakwell last season and admits he would like to work at Barnsley again in the future. He said: "I love Manchester United and I will never walk out on them. But you never know what will happen in the future and if I do end up leaving United, although I hope it is not for many years, then I would love to work at Barnsley again if the time is right and the offer is right. They are my hometown club and will always have a special place in my heart."

    Im guessing he meant it's not him as the next manager as opposed to another Dave Kelly? I think we've found the right Dave Kelly at the centre of the rumours.

    Is that the same Dave Kelly that used to be with Paul Jones and Tom McGuiness in the Blues Band?
    All that time ago and I never knew he would have been into sports fitness.

    He won' be coming back to Oakwell. He' happy at Man utd and if he did leave them he would have a chance to be sports scientist at a Championship club
