Apparantly Fifa take a dim view of Ali giving the ref a one fingered salute http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ns-disciplinary-proceedings-against-dele-alli
Alli insists his gesture was a jokey reproach to his mate Kyle Walker for what he considered to be a waste of possession. Pictures showing a wider angle of the pitch would appear to confirm his claim. If he had a need to remonstrate with the ref, surely he would have shouted something derogatory.? FIFA in their wisdom have now decided that Alli's gesture deserves punishment, yet refuse to take action against teams who quite clearly chant racist abuse. FIFA have consistently failed to reform themselves and the boring old far*ts that populate their Committees have not kept up with the times. They have crushed the spirit of the game. Some players have an edge that sets them apart from others. They can lose their cool and snap, but if you knock that spirit out of them you make them ordinary. Players are now carded for celebrating a goal as Raheem Sterling found out recently at Bournemouth and can also be criticised or booked for defending their own supporters like Sergio Aguero did in that same game. Football is a passionate game that evokes passion, craves individuality flair and sometimes invites dissension. It would appear FIFA have deep distrust of such qualities and insist on total conformity. Without concrete proof that Alli's gesture was intended for the referee, in my view, it would be an absolute travesty if FIFA end up handing him a ban.
Stop talking sense. The whole disciplinary process is a joke. Sterlings sending off and subsequent 1 game ban was just impossible to justify. My original post was a bit unfair as I know thats Allis claim is it was aimed at Walker. But Fifa have accused him of aiming it at the ref. Not worth more than a slap on the wrist and warning in my opinion
