I'm having a knee replacement op this week and likely to be on crutches for 6 weeks. Any one know if it is possible to buy one off tickets for disabled stand. I usually sit in East Upper and no way will i be able to manage those stairs!

You'll find the stairs between seats (no handrail) your biggest problem

I asked about this recently as my dad's knees are slowly getting worse and we have been thinking about going down to the East Lower or Disability Stand. At the moment you can get a season ticket or buy them on a match by match basis for the DS but it depends on availability and on your disability. The woman in the club shop said you have to be on some disability benefits so a brief spell on crutches might not be enough. If I were you I'd ring or call in and ask.

Contact the club. Don't select tickets, speak to reception. Tickets sends you to a call centre who know nothing about anything!

I'm in the disabled for today's game. I had a hip replacement and I am on crutches as well. When I explained the situation the club were very understanding and suggested the disabled stand. This is only for today, so I don't know what the situation is for league games.

There is a lift in the East Stand but I have never seen it in use! At St James' Park last game of season I was dreading the walk up the stairs but was approached by a steward and escorted to the lift as were many other older/infirm looking supporters!
