Thought there was a clear foul on Potts before the offside was given. Should have been a penalty. Ref had a shocker all night...

What exactly was it chalked off for? Certainly didn't look offside and like you say it was defo a pen for a foul on Potts. We just never seem to get any luck with ref decisions at all.

I thought it was a penalty too. So when we put it in I was relieved it didn't matter. No idea why it was chalked off. Looked a perfectly good goal to me.

Potts was hacked down, during which he touched the ball, it rolled through to Thiam(?) who I think was in an offside position, hence the flag. That shouldn't have mattered though as the foul was a certain penalty.

    Absolute joke of a referee.

Gardiner was offside his shot was blocked and it fell to Thiam. There's a gif of the incident on Matchday Drinkers Facebook. Clear penno followed by clear offside. Rarely criticise the ref, but he was poor today.

    Yes Gardner was clear offside.
Tackling round the top of the knee usually results in penalty decisions & this was before Gardner touched the ball.
Ref was crap & yet another decision went against us.
In for some great luck later in season if the even themselves out over a season as most folk say....

Where I was could not clearly see potential offside but clearly saw the penalty ref chose not to acknowledge.shows it on sky highlights .Definitely penalty

The ref proper shat himself in my opinion. First thing I did when I got in was watch the replay to see what happened, cos in the ground it was unfathomable as Gardner didn't look offside.

First, Potts is assualted. There's no way anyone can watch it and say it's not a foul. It's even worse than it looked in the ground. I reckon the ref is looking at that and takes a second's pause to consider the fact it's a big decision, during which Gardner follows up and then Thiam sticks it in the net. At which point the ref still hasn't blown for the pen and sees the lino waving his flag, so decides to cop out of the decision entirely and give offside.

Did our players appeal the decision?

Shocking decision, but not surprising it’s becoming a regular occurrence at Oakwell, things that are deemed fouls by reds players are waved away when the opposition do the exact same thing. Another thing a foul is a foul regardless of its position on the pitch surely? But no it doesn’t work like that, it you’re getting pens for the slightest of contact in the area, why not free kicks outside the area, I’ll tell you why because their not fouls so why are they in the area ? It’s nonsensical.

It was a definite penalty 100%
McFadzean should have got a 2nd yellow 100%
Should have been a penalty for handball about 85% sure
Dive for the free kick that they scored from about 80% sure
I haven’t seen any of these back yet.

Awful refereeing, penalty all day long. So just in the last 2 games we've been denied 1 stonewall pen, one maybe pen and had a definitely not a pen against us.

My conspiracy theory; The premier league big boys are scared s**tless that we'll gatecrash the party and become one of the biggest clubs in Europe so they're trying to engineer our relegation...

Gardner did look offside but it was a foul in the build up. It almost looks as if the ref was trying to play advantage but when the ball rolled through to Gardner he was stood in an offside position so how can there be any advantage? Appalling decision really by the officials.
