Of any pedigree or quality ?

Im completely resigned to the fact that we will not and are essentially preparing for league one.

After the negligent decision to sell Ethan Pinnock for 3 million quid in the summer we have been desperate for a quality centre back and to be honest we needed one to play alongside him even if he wasn’t flogged.

evidence suggest that this board has absolutely no intention of doing this.

ive seen quite a few posts saying see how the next 9 days etc pan out but let’s be honest the players that we sign will not be ready for championship football - just like pretty much every player we have signed in the last 12 months

I am not holding my breath. Sounds like the guy mentioned earlier might sign but, in my opinion, we need more.

I’m expecting a couple more Austrian players at the most. Certainly no one we’ll have heard of that’s for sure.
We had a real chance to consolidate in the poorest Championship for many a year but we’re likely going to blow it.
Be even worse if Rotherham pass us once again and actually make a decent fist of it next season.

I don't either to be honest, but I don't have any alternative but to wait 9 days and see. It will be a big turnaround if we do sign one or more "very good players".

There's something very wrong behind the scenes at Oakwell, I think, and it won't be long before we find out what it is. Strange signings, players frozen out, players out of position, players being asked to do things they can't. We'll see in time.

Depends on definition of pedigree or quality.
Do I think we will sign -yes
Will they be as good as Pinnock etc - no
Will they be better than what we currently have - I live in hope

I really understand your view and I am sad to admit your probably right. But with just over a week til the end of this transfer window come February 1st we shall see if you are proved correct. Things need to move very quicky if we are to have things in place for the Charlton game.

I think we'll sign 3 more players and given that the choice of players will be Strubers it's a big weight on his shoulders to deliver the said quality.

I know I’m banging on about this but come next season we could have 6 or 7 Austrians in the starting XI.
English football is completely different to what they’ve been used to and it ain’t going to work....not even in L1.

I'm not building my breath. I think we'll bring one or two more in but whether they will be good enough to change our fortunes in the championship remains to be seen.

You make an interesting point about the quality.
I would add, that I can see a gradual clamp down on FFP and this having an effect on the quality over the next couple of years, meaning the next 5 years could be the best chance ever to get to the Holy land.

The Jump circular 325 was the best option when i was a kid. Through Hemingfield and Jump and then Platts Common......oh you wrote Holy land.

I can't see us adding any quality between now and the end of this transfer window but hope to be proved wrong. What's more concerning looking at the bigger picture, should we go down to L1 then IMO Woodrow, Chaplin, Mowatt and Brown would all be sold leaving us with no quality!

I can see this money making board selling one of those 4 before February 1st, And it will probably be just like Moore too late in the transfer window to get a replacement "normal Excuse"

And just to rub it in, there's an Ethan Pinnock 'one-to-watch' piece in the BBC's build-up to Brentford v Leicester on Saturday lunchtime.....ffs

Genuine question, whats the proof of "this money making board" I keep my ear to the ground but I've no proof or indication they've made a penny out of running our club, one day maybe but in the 2 years they've been in charge I can't see where they've made a round coin.

The club was left with no choice to sell, the player wanted to go, once there's an interest in the player his agent will force through the move, its not rocket science, clubs at the top end of the championship and the division above will invariably get the players they want, anybody would think we dragged him to brentford

Struber ruled out signing Doncaster's Ben Whiteman this afternoon citing a lack of experience as the reason, suggesting he has those in mind who he thinks can cut the mustard at this level. Saying that he's got a bloody hard job cherrypicking quality pros from the continent, thought we did all that during our 'most successful ever transfer window'. Would love to see a new centre half, right back and striker, but unlikely.

I recon we will bring in a young German or Austrian centre half to replace bambo. Less optimistic about the striker/target man we need......
