Cites an interesting and very well acknowledged peer reviewed study by Bas Ter Week, University of Maastricht, on the impact of changing your manager on team performance over an 18 year period in Dutch football. Other studies are available. Similar analysis of German football showed similar conclusions too. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23724517
Certainly hasn't worked for us at championship level. Some fans have demanded we sack managers, and have probably felt justified as the new bloke had a good, (or brilliant spell in Flickers case) with more or less the same group of players, but after a while the same fans are on the back of the replacement. Sometimes there are things that can be tweaked and also the club doesn't always help itself, but the overriding problem for us at this level is financial disparity.
It doesn't really work. Sometimes you get a short term gain which may be enough to avoid relagation but generally it's a no no.
Rangers fans are foaming at the mouth to get their manager sacked. https://www.followfollow.com/forum/forums/the-bear-pit/
Of course it works. If we hadn't sacked Simon Davey we would have been relegated. If we had sacked Johnno we would probably have gone up automatic.
