We didn't sign players that had EFL cup experience.... boom tish... Bad result but even on paper we looked to have a squad more than capable of winning that game. The 3 forwards could be all first choice strikers for starters. Either we had no interest in winning tonight or Stendel got somethin really badly wrong. Glad i didn't go!
Didn't go, so I can't comment really. I honestly thought the team we put out, would have had too much for Carlisle. How wrong could I be.? Good luck to Carlisle in the next round against Rochdale away.
Stendel was livid, I'd guess that whatever he wanted them to do they either thought they knew better or just couldn't execute it...
Lets hope its brought everyone back down to earth (with a bump) - payers have now had a big wakeup call and will realise they need to pul their socks up and fans now realise we aint going to be producing Fulham performances every week and we are probably going to lose a lot more than we win. Said after the Fulham game i wasn't going to get too excited just yet as it was one game. I enjoyed that win but knew we needed to look at where we were after 10 games as a better yard stick.
12 new faces in the squad, admittedly some as replacements for those who've gone but we've opted for youth. Would rather have signed some older heads even if it meant fewer newcomers. Fault lies with 'The Plan' for me but it's never the suits who carry the can. I feel for Stendel right now, you could tell how frustrated he was getting at times.
Well it's a test of Stendel's skills as well - he need to lift them from this and get them in shape for saturday.
“We showed good fight and a team performance against Fulham, we need to show that again. We have to show that with the low budget and young players. We still have a lot of chances to win games in this league.”
The performances are going to be up and down, half the side are strangers to each other. We've shipped out a lot of players, some of them influential, and replaced them with inexperience at the level and/or in the country itself. I don't know why anyone is surprised either.
Agree with much that's been posted above that said We've been here in this situation more times than I care to remember... I wasn't at Hillsborough and I wasn't there tonight so I shouldn't really comment on these individual performances.. What I can say is surely nobody is really surprised what a lack of experience not only brings but creates.. Once again we are witnessing the start of another journey another rebuild.. Groundhog day to some extent.. I just hope 10 games further in.. if we are sat in the bottom 3 certain fans don't get on to DS it won't be his fault ( I guess this will fall on deaf ears with some) it's easy for the suits upstairs they will just pass the buck and appointment someone else.. I feel sorry for DS it must be so frustrating having loads of talant and knowledge of what needs to be done only to have your employers tie one arm behind your back and then give you oranges to juggle.. If history repeats it's self all the goodwill from last season will be lost and fans will walk away Complacency creeps in from all parties and before you know it the seasons almost over and the club. is asking you to back them again.... If what I've read about our last two games are to believed we could be in for another long long season... I Hope not... I think those involved tonight ought to be embarrassed not only about the score line but the manner in which it happened...... Let's hope things are sorted by Saturday because this board will go into melt down should we loose
Not being privy to our pay structure it's pure conjecture as to who we could have enticed and with the transfer window shut Stendel will have to work with what has come in. I wasn't unduly surprised we came away from S6 without a point but the performance and result against Carlisle was of a different magnitude.
It was ***** last night, but worst ever? Nooooooo. C'mon. Some recent gubbings/near misses which are a million times worse: Altrincham - obviously. Half of the dwarf's tenure, speaking of this. Honourable mentions to Shrewsbury and Fleetwood smashing us up in our own stadium. Didn't we only draw at home to Chester? Letting Crawley do the double over us, including being frigged five times in the away game in front of a crowd of 2200. The plant pot 3-0 game. I was fecking livid with them. Perspective, please. We're a solvent Championship club. These are not heady days for us because we're Barnsley and this division is our station. But it's been plenty worse in the not-too-distant past.
I rather think it would be a short list with some ***** has beens on it. I wouldn’t imagine Stendel picking someone because he’s good at bleating at the ref.
Worst game ever ? I couldn't go because of work but i've seen some bad games especially under machin (crowds dropping to 3/4000 even tho we were pushing for promotion) and spackman (totally useless ) so it must been bad truelly bad ????
