I'd rest him against Charlton I'm sure following his last international call up he returned and compared to normal had an off day against Coventry. Its a lot of travelling and will take some recovering from plus gives Mcgheehan another chance to follow up his Luton performance.
There should be some rule in calling up players for friendlies that miss a competitive game. That trio of starting midfield all play for clubs who aren't playing this weekend whereas Dougall could have. It's unfair on him and Barnsley Football Club.
Missed our game on Saturday, flown all the way to Kuwait to be an unused substitute in a friendly. Pointless.
It also may have resulted in him losing his place in our team, with his replacement playing well and scoring.
I don't really see that happening. I think he's a big part in why we've not conceded that many goals this season, giving the defense a bit of extra protection. It'll be a tough team selection, but I don't see him not coming straight back in.
Its a tough call on Saturday, I might be tempted to reward McGeehan for his performance and keep him in the 11. With a Tuesday game it gives Dougall a bit of rest and he could then feature on Tuesday and be fresh.
I'd prefer Dougall to play v Charlton as they'll have a lot of attacking threat he'll need to help with, if he needs a rest then McGeehan can start on Tuesday against Shrewsbury, who should be harder to break down.
