He's take delivery of a different Range Rover and has been out in it
today. He was stopped by police and recieved some advice because
he was not wearing a seat belt.!

"A seatbelt offence currently carries a minimum penalty of £100 fixed penaltyfine with no endorsable penalty points. If the case goes to court, this can increase to a maximum fine of £500."
It all seems to depend on who you are I suppose?

Absolutely. Many years ago I was fined for setting off while putting my seatbelt on in a supermarket car park which was my own fault but it seems that the law is not applied evenly and events of the last few days do little in the way of good PR for either the police or the Royal family.

In fairness to the police they didn't witness him driving without a seatbelt and that force claims their standard policy when a member of the public reports somebody driving without a seatbelt is to advise or warn them about it rather than attempting to fine them which more often than not would be disputed. I don't think the police have really dealt with him any differently, they breathalysed him and are currently investigating the accident

I'm referring to the second incident, not the initial crash. There is photographic evidence which, correct me if I'm wrong, is used frequently when prosecuting drivers. I have no vendetta here, previous posts of mine show I am a big supporter of the police and support the senior royals. I just feel that had this been Fred Jones who lives in Monk Bretton the outcome would have been very different.

I was referring to the second incident too with the warning. Norfolk police said that when somebody informs them of something like that they give out a warning which is what they did. Not sure why when there's a photograph, perhaps it's because digital images cancel easily by photoshopped these days?

I honestly don't know. If there are genuine reasons why a warning is appropriate then fair enough provided they apply the same discretion to every one.

Statement from the Palace is that the Duke of Edinburgh has decided to cancel his driving licence.
Seems to be the best solution all round…

The same prosecuting team which investigated Diana's tragic accident.
