2 fingers doesn't mean the same thing on the continent as it does here I believe.

Respect for the national anthems.... oh sorry, what does that mean?
A brat with rights and no responsibilities. She'll be a hoot in the playground on Monday.

The way you talk about people that even slightly contravene your world view is extremely unsettling.

Yup, I thought that too. It’s funny, but it’s not quite the same thing for them.

Sorry it might not conform to your world, whatever that may be, but perhaps my standards are different from yours, perhaps I grew up in a world where things mattered and were not dominated by a devil may care attitude. I do not know you but quite a few times you seem to want to be johnny-opposite to what people are saying. A bit like my wife who will pick an argument over trivial matters. I am sure you will reply in your usual way.

Jonny opposite? You called a kid “it” and “a brat” knowing nothing of the cultural differences, potential explanations, anything. I find it hilarious the few times I’ve seen you spouting your fascistic disdain for younger people you try to act like the respectful older generation while dehumanising and insulting people based off relatively trivial matters. I am not bothered because your opinion is totally irrelevant I’m just saying I find you extremely unsettling and wonder what your unfiltered views are if this is how you’re happy to talk about people on a public forum.

Give em a damn good thrashing !!
No, I'm out of this one now cos most of all I really do not like threads going off at tangents and then becoming personal arguments between people who do not know each other.
I'd much rather get worked up about the Reds getting three points than being accused of being a fascistic unsettled person. If you did know me then you'd find out that I'm so laid back I almost fall over but certain things in this crazy, crazy world do rattle my cage somewhat and I react, just like you reacted, and say things off the cuff. Doesn't mean I am unsettled.
    Nuff said now.

You do realise that the gesture is friendly and playful in Holland though right? Hardly a reason to call a kid it.

A few years ago I was about to take a photo of two girls in a bar in Austria (don't ask as I'm not telling). As they posed, they both made a two-fingered gesture. At first I took it to mean that they weren't happy having their picture taken, but then again if that were the case why would they pose? Confusion followed, after which I learned that over there the 2 fingered gesture actually is supposed to indicate how "cool" you are, in the "look at me" sense. The equivalent of our 2 fingers involves using just a single finger, usually the middle one.
