It seems a constant thing with England that whatever the form some players get picked. While there are some that the selectors cant wait to drop at the hint of a lower performance. Roy, Butler definitely the former category while Bairstow the latter.

It always feels like they’re trying to leave Bairstow out but he makes it impossible for them to. He’s got to be one of the best white ball players in the world and I think he’s harshly treated at test level.

Absolutely. We had an apartment for a few days overlooking the marina. It was brilliant. Highlight was going to see Kaizer Chiefs playing Ajax CapeTown at the Green Point stadium.

Behind the game here. Quite a few have got out the next ball after hitting a boundary.

Splendid to see the best two players on the field both being Yorkshire players.

Got to hurt for Kock to see three South Africans playing against them for another country.

Jason Roy. What the hell was he playing at.? Park cricket. Hit and hope batting at its worst on that performance.

Missed the SA innings but saw the England one - Roy looked like he had never held a bat before in his life - First game I have seen any of this series but if thats how he is playing he must have the same hold on the selectors as Ritzmaier had on Struber.
Great knock from Malan - amazing catch to dismiss him. Game would have been over with 2 overs to spare had that gone for the 6 it would have done had I been fielding there

I’m a consistent critic of Jason Roy. He’s one of those players who is living on past good knocks. You could argue that he’s a class player temporarily out of form but how long does this bad run go on for? He is certainly the proverbial “blue eyed boy” and it’s time he was rested. He’s a walking wicket.

I can’t fathom the criticism of Roy, there’s no way we’d have won the World Cup last year if he’d stayed injured. He’s having a dodgy spell but who doesn’t? Class will always come through.

His recent stats in T20 aren't too good......

    https://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/298438.html

Including the two warm up games against his international team mates over those four games he's averaging 14.5. We have so much talent waiting for a chance that a bad run can't afford to last too long.
