You’re right. Women are still hugely disadvantaged. Less so than before, but they still are.

You're absolutely right. We don't. Nowhere near. It's still so stacked in the favour of white males that it's obscene.

Thanks for the kind offer, but I'll politely decline. However, I wasn't offended in the slightest. ;)

I think that is a bit simplistic, depends on which social strata you are as a white male. Low income 'working class' white males do have plenty of legitimate grievances.
    • education system
    • jobs & types of industries available today
    • health care
    • family law
    • Social & Welfare systems
    • Justice system
Ignoring that fact is just one of the reasons that the country finds itself in the position it currently occupies (you know what I'm talking about ... and i speak as a remoaner).

Sure, as a 'middle class' white male its difficult to make the case that society is stacked against you, but even then its not a simple straight forward picture, there are plenty of areas that men are discriminated against.
That is not to say that issues facing women should be ignored/lessened, but equality should mean equality ... not payback.

They should take up fishing then.

One of the most open sports there is in terms of equality.

Which will surprise a few people.

In response to complimenting someone on their appearance. We live in an era now where people are more self conscious. A compliment can cause embarrassment in some people. Embarrassment can make you blush and feel weak.

I can see why people clam up in both respects. My take on it is don't put yourself in that situation in the first place.

The point is we had 50 years of ‘male only’ courses.

I think if you get caught ogling you deserve to be called a pervert. It depends whose doing the ogling though. An example two middle aged fat blokes would get called perverts where as a young fit tall muscle clad lad would get a smile.

Why do you think that is?
Ill tell you. Because until 20 years ago football was completely a male sport. Inexplicably so. Women/ girls didn’t play at school for some unknown reason. There was no structure and few clubs for girls.
Finally the FA and other agencies realised how ridiculous it was that women were being discouraged from playing. Since then there has been a boom in female participation that the governing body is struggling to keep up with.

So in answer to your post. There isn’t the need for male only courses. There is a need for female courses to get more women into the leadership of the game that is still dominated by men and in some cases a chauvinist attitude. I for one wouldn’t be bothered if the FA did put on a male only course, but the shortage is with women.

What i do find odd is the resistance to developments that only benefit people.

TBH, they would have probably laughed and got louder with it.
It was all harmless banter, I was 18 and full of it and they knew they could get one over me by making the comments.

All joking aside if they knew it upset me they wouldn’t have done it.

I'm currently doing my FA Level 1. There's only one female enrolled in my cohort. There's ~20 people from 20 different grass-roots clubs including 6 or so girls teams. She said at the start of the course that she felt self-conscious and wished there were other women/girls doing the course with her. A simple comment like hers suggests to me that perhaps more women would enrol if there was a specific women only course.

So will all these lady coaches only coach all lady teams, i think not..
If i wanted to be involved in netball would they have a male only course because i didnt feel comfy..... No...
I personaly would totally accept the FACT that it is mainly played by woman and learn from other woman who would be far more experienced than i would be

    Why does that matter?

So women should just accept football is a mens game, and accept male coaches, irrespective of the fact that women want to be involved????

I'm 100% certain that if the Netball governing body knew there was a clamour from men to attend a men only course, they would supply it.
