Costing too much under current deal for Silverstone to keep hosting it and so have activated break clause to end contract after 2019 Grand Prix http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40566434 Hopefully they can do a new deal with the new owners as it would be a real shame if the circuit was no longer used in F1
This has been on the cards for many many years. The whole F1 brand has been used to line the pockets of one individual. With countries paying for the privilege to host the event to boost tourism and promote their countries the 40-50M has served one person very well. I think Silverstone paid less but the more countries pay the more pressure it puts on the private company that runs Silverstone. I think it would be a tragedy if London is supported to host this event when any money for London could have supported Silverstone. I think the term 'Circus' has never been more appropriate than now for F1. If I was Silverstone I would plan a premium weekend of Indy sport and follow the NFL, NBA, NHL in running US sports in Europe. Make a big thing of it and keep British circuit on the map. However what I think will happen is that F1 will cut a new deal with Silverstone.
Meanwhile the sun came up today an over priced "sport" full of over paid "superstars". Just like the premier football league.
