I believe I have only met John Peachey and gazed longingly at YTBFC,but anonymity means I could have met and know more. I understand the concerns and complaints the site isn't like it used to be. I think it could reflect how the club has been run and the state of the country for the past 2 years, or perhaps not.I do think that on Social media sites, the normal rules and skills of communicating, get thrown away sometimes. Myself I only tend to react badly to someone on here if they say something I perceive to be Sexist or Rascist, then I let myself down by verbally attacking them, nuts eh. I do get the occasional opposing view to my own about football, which are a bit strong sometimes,I just need to not be so sensitive. Another reason I think the forum isn't the same is that some members have died, become ill, changed locations and have work and family commitments. We can make the forum a good place again by the topics we post about. People seemed to talk about their jobs and work/life experiences in the past, which made it seem a more community based forum.I use to enjoy Mr C talking about Art and restoration before he became ill. Jamdrop and Liverpoolred discussing education topics, you get the picture. I hope we will become a forum that everyone feels comfortable with, that's up to us all to create that. Another part of the forum I liked which seems to have died off ,is supporters of other clubs and their views on things. Bluebird,442,Northender etc, that may be due to login and security issues. I'll stop boring you all now, I enjoy the forum, yes it has evolved but it's not as bad as sometimes we think it is. I view all the members as equal and all have something to contribute.
Haha and I also have had the pleasure of meeting monkey. This was on my first visit to Oakwell. Our picture appeared on Tykes Mad later that night. Lol.
Really good post. I've only been posting 5/6 years (probably reading for double that). I'd genuinely like to meet anyone on here in person, even people who have totally opposite views to myself. The reason being that , what views we hold are only a small part of what we are as people. I have loads of mates (and family members), who have diametrically opposite views on politics, Brexit, football, music, art, etc, but they are still my mates. I won't accept racism, sexism & hatred of other people, but everything else is game on.
I think Jonathan was one of tuffers inventions that was designed to wind folk up on here with his constant digs at Andy Ritchie ......he got loads biting on here, sithi.
ahhhh yes I vaguely recall that bloke, is he still around? Didn't he not have a podcast called 'Not a Dogpast'
Yes, that was it! Some skinny dude in bad shoes & with a massive forehead, going on about Blink 182. Used to love it. Top fella.
I think you’ll find it was called “my dog is far more articulate than me cos I’m usually half cut by the time I do this not a podcast”
