RE: getting boring now But no threads such as this after 90 minutes of 'Dee Dar' against the Sheffield clubs. Strange that! S)
RE: Did my head in I don't have any hatred towards an individual for supporting a certain club. The hatred in the eyes of these 'men' as they shouted at the Forest fans is not the same as shouting 'Dee dar' at Sheffield clubs - that's just a piss take of how they speak. It's as if they wish all Forest fans were dead the way they chant it. As if all Forest fans had anything to do with previous events.
'Scabs on fire' Couple of blokes behind me kept trying to start that chant off to the tune of Sex is on fire. Lets just say it didn't take off I've got to say though the scab chants did get boring to listen to, and it was clear the Forest fans didn't give a ****.
RE: getting boring now Well as long as the people sat in front of me aren't constantly standing all game and blocking my view because they want to 'stand up if you hate the scabs' then I'm not really bothered.
RE: getting boring now everyones intitled to an opinion.....mine is this chant will carry on at the next fixture between these two clubs. just like i think that no amount of protesting will get the fa, police or anyone else act on the morgan/hume affair does'nt mean i dont personally think the elbow was'nt deliberate. agree with what you say pal about the dee dar chant..........is it really any differant
The point is that it becomes alot more than about the Miners Strike ... when people around you (kids included) have to witness that amount of hate & agression coming out of someone, and directing it towards people (kids included) who in many cases have no idea what it's about (because of the fact it's 25 years ago & they weren't around/ involved/ to blame). Yes it may be the only chance that they get, but what I witnessed yesterday was vile, pure hatred, directed at a general population in the hope they might hit the odd person who'd understand. Sorry, but I don't go to a football match/ and I wouldn't want to take a child to a match with that happening. I don't think it's acceptable that people should be put off going to football because of something that happened a long long time ago. I understand the history & sympathise with what happened, but yesterday was truly horrible.
RE: Did my head in So people can stand up and sing as much as they like as long as its something you have empathy with. Just checking.
RE: Did my head in People who sing 'Dee dar, dee dar' don't tend to spend the entire game blocking my view of the match I've paid good money to see.
RE: The point is that it becomes alot more than about the Miners Strike Couldn't agree more. I have decided that, unfortunately, I won't be going to any more matches at Forest because I don't want to subject myself to that any more, or be associated with that are more. We've had it every time we've played them for years and, after 25 years I've realised that, if it ain't going to stop, then I've got to stop going. Yesterday was just such a crap day out on so many levels.
And someone with too much time and bitterness on their hands - This sticker was on the hand dryer in the gents. "Proud to Come From Barnsley?" - Errr...... (doh) [img=http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/1220/scabgw3.jpg]
