Dear Mr 55 and Counting. Forgive me but I have made an assumption that your ‘Moniker’ is probably a reference to your age. Certainly the wise content of most of your posts seems to suggest a degree of experience.

With that in mind I feel I do need to bring to your attention the fact that deluded idiotic fools, primarily from North of the Border, are scrupulously using ‘55 and counting ‘ to make false claims over the number of SPL titles won by the New Rangers (Sevco), and it is now a common feature on much of the social and mainstream media. Of course what they should really be saying is ‘1 and counting’ no matter. HMRC will no doubt be investigating the issue shortly.

This leaves you in a rather invidious position, because the Sevco Fans would no doubt make the point to you (as we used to chant to opposition supporters as we stood in the corner of the old Brewery Stand in the 70’s) “There’s more of us than you’ and that means that you may need to change your own Moniker. Might I suggest, at an appropriate time, 56 and Counting?

Of course you could travel up to Glasgow and ‘have it out with them’ (I’m sure Ian could bob down to give you a hand?) whilst reminding them of other Reds chants from the Brewery. “you’re going home in a Barnsley ambulance” was a popular ditty as I recall.

Anyway, I’ll leave it with you.

I’m with Tarntyke here. Again I have no preference between either of the ugly sisters. I hate both equally with a passion.
To my mind any business which goes through liquidation no longer exists. And this is fact.
Dundee United’s claim to fame is we were the last team to beat Rangers FC at Ibrox

I used to buy programmes from Peter and Kath Rundo, both avid Dundee Utd fans. Not a lot of people know that;)

I'm no great fan of either, but I dislike Celtic less than I dislike Rangers for the following reasons :-
Back in the day Celtic allowed 'Prods' to play for them and they did, but 'Taigs' were banned from playing for Rangers.
Rangers owners/Directors always had links with 'Freemasonry', which is an anathema to me. Not sure what the current status is.
I'm a tad biased because my nephew works for Celtic FC, he is English as is his friend and opposite number at Rangers. They both reckon that both clubs and their fans are as bad as each other and deserve each other.

    Your last sentence says everything.
But please do not be too quick in congratulating Celtic with having a much more open and less sectarian club than Rangers.
Arguably Celtic’s finest manager, the first to bring the European Cup to Britain, Jock Stein when he retired after winning countless trophies was never offered a place upstairs in the boardroom. Instead he was demeaned by being given a job running the Celtic pools. Maybe because he was a Protestant. To this day no Protestants as far as I’m aware are on the Celtic board.
Jock left to take on Leeds probably a broken man from being treated so shabbily.

    Dear Dalestyke
Thanks for the kind words. The 55 refers to the year of my birth not my age so unfortunately that won't change as I continue to age. Wish I was 10 years younger however!

This is clearly a copyright issue and, having now received the useful information provided by you, I can inform you that my legal team is on it.....like a car bonnet.

With regard to the possibility of violence and fisticuffs I have no "connections" but any help from Ian and his Dundee Crew would be appreciated......and justified.

As an aside, I'm a Hoops man myself (nowt to do with religion) ever since we went to The Gorbals when I was 13 years old for a late summer "vacation"!!! Yes....The Gorbals!
The family, whose tenement we stayed in had a Celtic connection and they took us to Parkhead. We watched them train and I got to meet Jock Stein and touch the old European Cup.

Understatement of the century....I was completely awestruck.

So ...let's be 'avin them Blue Sweaties.

PS ....apologies if youre a blue sweatie yer self.

I wasn’t congratulating Celtic if you read my post. I was expressing my abhorrence of ‘freemasonry’ and it’s association with Rangers. I am in doing so demonstrating my own prejudice. One against a self serving secret society. Whilst I do not doubt the veracity of the Jock Stein anecdote, if you know the culture and climate of Glasgow football, you will know there are as many similar stories to be told of Rangers. There are very few good stories coming from either side of the divide.

And that they're the only British team to have never lost to Barcelona when facing them in European competition. Correct?

I thought Dundee Utd had a 100% record against Barcelona. I'll need to check or get @arabian_ian to confirm

EDIT - Dundee Utd have won all 4 European games against Barcelona. Home & Away in InterCity Fairs Cup 1966, and both legs of UEFA Cup in 1986/7 season

Thank you Mr Counting for your considered reply, and no, I do not drink at the Fortress of Darkness, most definitely a Bhoy.

Touched the European Cup! Like many others, very jealous, particularly as it is becoming clear from the recent posts on this site, that it will be at least three years before the Reds win the Big Cup.
