Gets a goal and an assist vs Sunderland then people get the knives out literally the game after, continuing to do so since.

Up top on his own when he clearly doesn't have the physicality for that, feeding off scraps in terms of service and has the weight of being seen as the clubs main striker at 18/19 years old.

Should have scored with a few chances yes but that happens with all forwards especially at his age.

Clearly we have a very talented player on our hands right now so lets not mar his progression with unnecessary criticism.

p.s Did you see that when he did about 4 Spurs players with that flick near the dugouts!!!

I thought he did really well on Tuesday, against better players.

He looked stronger and quick, and around the time he almost scored, he looked to benefit from Potts taking a gamble and getting up there with him.

One up top isn't going to do any of our strikers any favours.

    My heart bleeds for him.

Might send him a card and letter.

Somebody probably made a comment that wasn't 100% positive.

Football fans formulate opinions for all kinds of reasons. As a Barnsley lad and fan I'm very proud of my working class roots, but I'd say about 80% of those who attend games and post on forums haven't got a fckng clue about ability, aptitude, physicality, potential, tactics or anything else that actually distinguishes a good player from a bad one. Make that 95% for away matches.

Don't both trying to influence anyones opinion on here either, the most prolific posters have about 6 different personas and in some cases only log on in the midst of a drunken hour.

We'll do ok this season, top half imho and Ugbo will be one of this seasons 'hero's'. Lindsay, Williams, Barnes, McCarthy, Potts all look decent signings and there's others we haven't even seen yet . Only a complete c.un-t would be negative at this stage.

Me neither. A few people my self included have commented he has found it a bit hard as the sole striker when we punt long balls up to him because he doesnt yet have the strength to hold off someone like John Terry for example but thats hardly putting the knives out. I had him as one of our 3 best players against Spurs - he got better as the game went on and coped with the spurs Centre backs much better second half when he had a bit of support.

Dont forget that Fletcher struggled a bit with his first few starts- I expect Ugbo to get better with each game he plays - but to say he is the finished perfect striker already is only being silly.

I think some are implying any comment that isnt lavish praise counts as getting the knives out

The irony is that the OP has made very few posts this season that are actually about Barnsley but of the few he has made here are some of the knives he's had out from our players.

"he has had a poor partner in Potts."

"Understandably tougher when you have AJ [Adam Jackson] flapping like a frightened goose next to ya!!!"

"I'm really not convinced he's [Jack Walton] even good enough for the U23s"

You were a big champion of Simon Davey and Special Kay as I recall. As you say it's all abart opinions - and we all know in our own mind ours is the right one.

Could be wrong but based on games played in the Championship, Davey is still our most successful manager since Wilson#1.

I'm sure Hecky will catch him up once he has the extra 90 games.

I like the look of him, goals will come he's young. He's the sort of player who can get a goal out of nothing a bit of skill then pace to get himself into good positions. Think he'd be a very good player at this level with more experience and someone at the side of him up tops.
