Had to be Sammy the snake for me. He won’t get a Championship club but he’d be guaranteed 15 plus goals at L1, especially with the chances we create.
Nah. Too old and too expensive. He could be our Will Grigg and we'll end up like Sunderland stuck in league 1 for years.
I think outside the top two tiers, the days of silly salaries are on hold. I'm not saying sign him, but i do think out of contract players may well get a reality check when negotiating with L1 and below clubs.
I just cant see him dropping down to league one, taking a huge pay cut and coming back to club where half the fans can't stand him. I reckon one of the club's that have gone up from league one will snap him up.
To be honest I could probably see Rotherham going for him. They’re the only Championship club that would I reckon.
Be reluctant for that reason alone as one thing with the young lads we do have, we seem to have that good team spirit.
He wouldn't come back here after all the stick he got, plus as mentioned earlier in the thread, he didn't seem a great character in the dressing room.
Proposed salary cap of £2.5m for the squad in L1 near to agreement apparently, £1.25 for L2 , some dispensation for relegated teAms who have players under contract , if this is true we might hold onto more players if relegated than you think . Championship proposal no where near an agreement . Having said all that I’ve no idea how much our salary bill is https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....s-squad-numbers-and-transfer-fees-2913567?amp
I'd read somewhere that Coventry were lining him up. No transfer fee would mean he could command a decent salary.
I applaud any effort to bring wages down and make it more affordable for clubs in the lower leagues but the gap between League One and the Championship will become even wider. Promoted teams with a salary cap in League One will step up to the Championship where the budget is likely to be much higher.
