If he is, I'd imagine they'll want to recoup as much as the £7MILLION they spent on him as they can. That ship has sailed and to be quite honest, I'm not that bothered that it has. It's a lot of money for an unproven striker.
They wont get anyone to pay them the £7million back - but a bigger problem is that if he is on £30K per week as I saw reported somewhere they will struggle to find anyone to match that either. Compare with Sammy Sold for £3Million and on c 19K per week and he is a proven goalscorer at Championship level I'd have Fletcher back if he will fit our wage structure and Pulis will let him go for £1Million but I cant see it myself but we got Isgrove and I didnt expect that either so who knows
They might just settle his contract up to entice someone to do the deal. They did pay way ott in terms of both wages and transfer fee. He’s probably ‘worth’ 1.5 to 2m and about 10-15k per week.
What we are desperate for is someone to score goals, he’s got 1 goal in 32 league games since leaving us. Rate the lad and think he will have a great career but we don’t have the time for a work in progress this season IMO
Yet another one thats spoilt by money. Boro must have been laughing when they got rid of Rhodes to Wednesday, and then unbelievably spent silly money on Fletcher. They'll struggle to move him on, and he'll not want to take a pay cut.
He's not pulled up any trees but he was great for us, he's young and there's the fact that he knows how Hecky works and Hecky knows how he works. I'd love to have him back.
I would say that he isn't an exciting signing anymore but I am intrigued by you saying we could be on the verge of an exciting signing but still working within the same wage structure. Something tells me the signings may be foreign if that is the case ?
Yes. Understand that Fletcher treats Hecky as his mentor and consulted with him about the move to ‘Boro before he made it. https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...-red-fletcher-towards-middlesbrough-1-8801425 He needs to trust that his next move is the right one. Get him back on the right terms.
Very, in my opinion. He's not really had a proper run of games since he played for us. He took a while to get going when we first signed him, and may do again, but I thought he was potentially the complete centre forward. Quick, strong, awkward for defenders yet very skilful, an excellent finisher and brilliant at bringing other players into the game as well. Why exactly WOULDN'T we want him?
