Are you sure they know what a flexi ticket is? The last time I was in their ear about this, they came up with the Super Six, which was as flexible as Mido.
Anything to fill the ground would be welcome. Be great to average 15-20,000 per game this season. If we keep on winning it could happen
so how will it work? you chose which games to go to in advance or you just go when you can and use it like a credit card and it takes money from the card that you have toped up say you top up £100 and you go to villa game would it take a discounted price of £25 out
They are still working it out from an operational point of view which is why it will be two or three weeks till its available. My guess would be you buy a flex membership with 5 or 6 tickets for whatever price they set and then it would be your responsibility to exchange one of your flex tickets for an actual match ticket/seat. Whether that is something that can be incorporated with the online ticketing we'll have to see. Presumably they'd keep it simple and allow a flex ticket to be exchange for any category of ticket but again we haven't got the detail.
Was it still worth me arguing with the Mrs and going into my overdraft to struggle to buy a season ticket for the kids and I.
That's a bit silly to watch a load of grown men kicking a bag of air about. They will only be for 6/8/10 games and work out more than the ST per game so l wouldn't worry about it.
Oh I've been sillier. Seriously though I'd regard all this as a learning curve for the club, if it works great, introduce it from the word go next year. As long as lessons get learned from this unlike the shirts sales year on year and the kiosks being understaffed and unorganised year on year.
I'm hoping they are going to be available straightaway next season. None of this beating season tickets to death first. That would be a lesson learnt.
I'm sorry to always respond but it wouldn't be a lesson learnt at all. Season ticket income, not holders, are the most important thing to Barnsley Football Club. The income is the lifeblood. Risking a 2% drop in that income would be catastrophic and they definitely couldn't afford to do that this season. Flogging season tickets to death isexactly the right approach to take, backed up with offers for the casual fan who can't attend as many games. Looks like my 'bet' will come in anyway. Ridiculous or what?
The club has taken great strides over the last couple of years and it should be commended. Of course things could be quicker and the club less reactive button does seem to be coming.
Hadn't thought about it before but wasn't there increased demand for the shirt due to the play off final
A season ticket is just one type of ticket (or it should be looked upon as such). There's supporters that don't suit that type of ticket and alternative discounts should be available at the same time. Why should those people have to wait until October for something suitable to be put on sale. No-one knows if the flexi ticket will have a negative or positive impact on overall income. What it will do is allow more people to have the appropriate ticket for their circumstances. It will bring people into the fold that weren't already in. Some will guess incorrectly how many games they need and either not fully use the flexi ticket or need to buy another. If someone keeps buying flexi tickets instead of a season ticket they may pay more into the club than they would have otherwise done. Who knows, income might actually increase.
Of course it would. A 5 or 6 game ticket wouldn't be enough for a season ticket holder so there wouldn't be too many people, if any, not buying one because of it. No-one buys a season ticket who can only get to 5 or 6 games surely? It's just the right amount to not be enough for regulars and just enough for people who can't afford/aren't interested in going to many games. You're also only taking into account a possible drop in season ticket sales (which I don't think there will be, see above) but not considering the extra money from people who would have only gone to 1 or 2 matches and will now look at this and realise it's not that much more money (hopefully) to get to see 5 instead. (People who were planning on going to two cat A* games for example would have been paying £72 in advance and may be happy to pay an extra £28 to get to see another random 3 games.) I reckon there will be way more people who do this compared to the people who won't buy a season ticket now. Also, that's just factoring into it the extra money this time and not taking into account how much encouraging new/reluctant people to get this ticket and go to these matches will cause people to want to go to more and more (potentially converting to a season ticket one day). That is what happened to me, I used to go to 2 maybe 3 matches a season but then a few seasons ago the Supporters Trust offered a discount that was fully flexible and could be used on any game so I went to a few more that season, then the season after I got a half season ticket and last year I got a full season ticket which I renewed this year. Five years ago the club could have emailed me/text me every single day about a season ticket but I would never have considered buying one, no matter what offers they came up with - these are the people the club should be (and hopefully now will be) targetting.
