Fog at Airports

    I'm in a 5 hour delay at Innsbruck airport. Why do some people think that the fog here has been put there on purpose by the young ladies at the check in desks? What complete utter knobheads some people are.

    Maybe they would prefer to risk their lives trying to have planes land and take off in a mountain airport when they cant see anything. I assume Innsbruck doesnt have the ground radar systems?

    Thank you. I've now got talking to some young ladies from Crystal, so there's now a danger I might miss my flight which takes off in 2.5 hours.......

    As far as I know Innsbruck does have the radar system and flights are taking off and landing. It's the huge distances between flights which are causing many flights to be diverted hundreds of miles away. So the planes end up in the wrong place. Anyway it's a pain but I've had my fun, it's the people arriving for a Christmas skiing holiday that I feel sorry for.

    must admit I always think Insbruck is a risky airport in Winter, last time I flew in there we landed at Saltzberg waited on the plane for 3 hours for the storm to pass and then flew the last bit and had quite a hairy landing

    Tend to agree. I'm not bothered on the way home as "it is what it is" but it's a pain when arriving very late on your first day. The Crystal lasses are going ballistic trying to rearrange transport etc. Total bedlam, but an interesting watch as I've nowt better to do!

    Yes, always makes my **** boil when folk can't fly because of the weather & they just can't get thier thick chuffin noggins around it.

    Good idea, never thought of that. Delay now 7.5 hours and counting. The good news is I've been given a voucher for 10€.

    No help from the airline (Eurowings) at all. Next available flight is 27th December. The advice is we all have to find an alternative way home, with no help from the airline. I'm lucky as I can speak German, and I've found a night train to Hamburg which gets in at 8:30 tomorrow morning. No hotel vouchers, no meal vouchers, no advice, nowt. We've got to pay ourselves and try to claim it back later.

    I started this thread with a lot of sympathy for the staff. It's still not their fault, but the lack of help is amazing. And we bloody lost too. Merry Christmas.
