yorks may do well to grind out a draw v's notts, but looking gloomy for staying in div1 just seen lancs score with somerset, 99 all out 1st innings trailing by 93, 2nd they were 24/4 and later effectively 0/6, but still managed to tie the game! dunno if somerset will get done for the pitch, 40 wkts in 160 odd overs!
County cricket is fking barmy, you build a really good side, England nick have the best players and you are shagged, absolutely bizarre.
Suspect somerset will get a fine and point deduction for that - game only lasted 5 sessions and the majority of the wickets fell to spinners.
Sir Geoffrey was on the lunchtime news. Spoke very harshly about the state of Yorkshire cricket. Unfortunately, as usual he's right.
Battling like hell. Lamcs played a game more after our result in this one. We can stop up. Worcs and lancs to drop
Doubt it to be honest as they'll want to rest them before the winter. Maybe they'll play one but England don't tend to like them playing for us because of the busy schedule, remember that Root has got Sri Lanka away, Big Bash then West Indies away followed by a home World Cup and home Ashes.
The blokes right, there is something within the club that feels almost rotten at the minute. From memory, it all started when Gillespie moved on, so maybe it is the head coach that is either not up to the job, or the player just can't get behind. Relegation isn't the end of the world for Yorkshire though. It was a relegation that prompted the board members to have a good shake up which led to the back to back league titles we won a few years ago...
Honestly don't see the point of it, teams are rewarded for having inferior players because they don't get called up for England. I'm more proud of the fact that the England team is led by a Yorkshireman than I would be for Yorkshire to win the Championship.
Agreed. The team started to go downhill when Gillespie went. Gael was not the he greatest cricketer and untried as a coach. Whether Yorkshire stay up or go down we need a new coach for next season. There are a lot of good players underperforming at present in all formats.
Piers is the master wind up. Cook opens the batting facing fresh fast bowlers and a new ball. Beforehand he's captaining the bowling side, rushing off the pitch for ten minutes before coming back out. KP would have his feet up until we lost a couple of wickets, the ball got softer and the bowlers more tired. Hardly a fair comparison.
he's a **** end, though KP was 1 of our best hitters ever and game changer if he compares averages to decide the best KP will have around 70 innings lower than cooky and no doubt wouldn't have got 40+ in all those if like for like, cooky was by far the greater test cricketer though KP a more powerful batter who scared the bowling attack more, it's not just a game of batting though where he offered little else out of the ordinary unlike cooky who's stats prove he's 1 of the best team players ever, that's a fact
