have you not realised that negative posts are counter productive.

Criticising the Tories does not mean people will be flocking to vote Labour - criticising Labour doesn't mean we all flock to vote Tory.

What gets people voting for a party is liking that parties' policies. Yet few 'political' posters ever post anything positive about their party.

Try to put your political opinions forward or those of the party you support without referencing any other party.

And lets stop the personal abuse - it's a ploy used by those who fear losing the argument.

I suggested the very same thing to someone on Facebook, using the analogy of 2 pubs. One salting the other, and then in response, the other slating them back. All the while, a customer (be that me or anyone else reading it), would think they are both **** and piss off to another Pub entirely. And in this case, I meant town folk voting Brexit Party. Rather than promoting the decent policies of the party he supports, (Look at this pub, it sells this, cleans its lines x, and prices Z) etc

Whilst he understood what I was getting at, it took him all of 20 minutes to then post another facebook post slating the other party again. And its constant and none stop since.

This will be a general election, based on who has had the least amount of **** slung at 'em. and its ****

Well people can now see the manifesto of each party (Tories aside) so they can start to review something in black and white and decide whats important to them.

I've just finished reading the Labour one (not going to read the "grey book", the IFS has pretty much condemned it anyway) so of the 3 I've read, my choice is made. Just a few days before my postal vote arrives and thankfully I wont be in the country when the results come in!

But manifestoes aren't worth the paper they are written on.. Some things in them will never every be implemented. And other things they daren't put it in, will not only be sneaked in under the radar. But also with a in your face, blatant two fingered, up yours, we'll do as we please.

I wouldn't believe a word of any of the dirty lying b*******, may as well read the Beano.

It always makes me shake my head that those criticising a certain party are deemed in favour of the other one. They are both truly awful and cannot promote themselves as they have little to go on apart from the “well what about them? “ whine.
I’m really going to struggle at this election

Tbf where you have a party in power it is reasonable to say that they did x y & z or they haven't done it. I agree that personal abuse achieves nothing.

I used to but not anymore, its totally pointless, not worth the hassle and definitely not what I come on here for.

Our two main political parties have leaders that in general are either loved or hated with very little in between. This generally means that so called debates turn toxic very quickly.

Some of the replies I see on political threads reinforce my decision to no longer participate in them and underline how worrying it is that these people actually have a vote.

I really wish that admin would create a separate area for political threads. Seriously I also post on and read a well known political forum and I'd struggle to find the levels of toxic exchange that are often seen on here. Site admin on there just don't allow it.

I don't think it's anything to do with manifestos, or the leaders of the parties - more to do with tribal loyalties. Most people do not vote from a careful consideration of the policies and manifestos, or analysis of the leadership of the parties. They vote in a certain way because they always have done, and so have their fathers and grandfathers before them.....Others vote just for a laugh. Some don't vote at all which is probably a good thing.
