Frank Lampard has an 'escape clause' in his contract. Apparently Derby want £4 million compensation. This is petty cash to Chelsea. I hope this doesn't spark interest in our manager by Derby.
Int it time managers wer subject to the same "windows" as players for moving clubs. dont think they are bt tell me if i'm wrong....
Dont think any promotion hopeful in the Championship will look at Stendel until he s proved himself capable of delivering wins playing his style of football. Not sure Chelsea will gamble with Lampard either.
I genuinely can't see why Chelsea would take a punt on a relatively new manager who only has experience in the championship just because he used to play for them.
Report on the BBC Sports web page, saying Lampard has still got 2 years to go on his current deal and he's grateful to Derby for giving him the chance to manage. With that in mind, he's intimating that he doesn't want to renege on his deal and is to sit down for talks with the Derby board, to discuss extending his contract at an increased pay level.
Pep was already at Barca managing the B side and I think they wanted to promote from within. It might work, I just can't see Chelsea taking the risk.
Article in the Metro says Abramovich has assured Lampard he will give him two years to settle in. So as TTS has said in a different thread, looks as though he could well be leaving Derby. https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/16/fran...eceiving-assurances-roman-abramovich-9970524/
And what exactly in Abramovich’s track record would make him believe that. It’s a tricky one for Frank I’m sure he would like to get more experience before taking on a club like Chelsea, and I believe he is more loyal than most and wouldn’t want to snub Derby, but it’s a hard one for him to turn down if offered. I’m surprised Chelsea are seriously considering him though.
Derby's owner Mel Morris says Chelsea have not contacted him to discuss Frank Lampard leaving to take over at Stamford Bridge. However, Franks uncle Harry Rednapp is quoted on the BBC Sports website, as saying " it will happen." He cites the reasons for thinking that, is that Frank is a legend at the Club, he has a house just round the corner from the ground and his wife Christine works in London, where she also lives with their baby. https://talksport.com/football/559511/chelsea-manager-redknapp-frank-lampard-top-four/
For me it makes perfect sense for them to go for Lampard. He'll take Jody Morris with him who was academy manager at Chelsea, they're banned for two years to buy anyone, so they have to use what they have. If he can't sign anyone then in theory Abramovic can't really lose any money on bad transfers, plus he will be a lot cheaper to employ for 2 years you would imagine than what one of the top top managers you'd expect them to go for with no transfer windows for two years. With no incomings I think bringing Lampard in the best Chelsea fans can hope for whilst the ban is in place. If it goes drastically wrong then the excuse for Lampard is there's a transfer ban couldn't put a stamp on it, don't really see either coming out of it bad?
Lampard has to take it, the chance may never come again. Derby have had what is basically a par season for them, with the benefit of some very good loanees. If he stayed he could easily be out of a job by January and Chelsea definitely wouldn't come knocking then.
