to the day that we played Liverpool in the FA cup at Anfield .
What a fantastic afternoon that was .
Heroes ,the whole squad topped off with Luke’s display of Shot Stopping .
I was lucky enough to get that day and I know a helluva lot of supporters that went home and away regularly missed out . I used to go to away matches pretty regular at that time so had my proverbial Colchester stub .
We had the feedback at oakwell which I’m told was a brilliant atmosphere . Everything from that day was buzzing in tarn right up to the Wembley appearance .need these days back ASAP imo

Fantastic occasion, but a colossal cock up with ticketing if I remember correctly.

I was at Plymouth on the Tuesday but missed out on a Liverpool ticket.

I paid £92 for a £28 seat in their main stand.

Scenes. Had I been rumbled, I would have had my head taken off by a Scouser who was so angry it was funny. "Losing to these is like losing to the fcuking under-nines!" He was screaming so hard he was purple.

    ROFL.

Quite a few of ours scattered around the home sections I think.

Liverpool should be used to losing against teams they should beat. They seem to make a habit of it.

Anfield ticket allocation was the biggest cock up in the history of the club as far as I’m concerned. Organised for the ease and benefit of the ticket office rather than fans.

Wow where has that gone. I too was lucky enough to make it. After the game had finished and the players has left the field I went to the toilet. A lad in there sweating like mad and bright red. Asked him what was up said he was in the home end and kept cool when foster scored but couldn't contain himself when Howard potted the winner. Having been rumbled he legged it out of the stand and was chased round the ground. Luckily for him the stewards on the away end were happy with his accent and let him take refuge inside.

I was lucky enough to get a ticket even though the staff kept coming along the queue saying "We don't think they'll be any left". I was queuing with a lad who'd left his mate waiting in the Mount , by the time we had got back his mate was absolutely legless .

I didn't make it to Anfield but I did make it to Oakwell for the big screen showing (it was a lot bigger than the current scoreboard ;)). I remember the glorious scene when Brian slotted home the winner of people invading the Oakwell pitch in absolute joy. A bizarre scene!

I was at my brother in laws wedding in Doncaster. A lot of my wife's family live in Barnsley and
they were guests at the wedding. We were in the bar at the reception after the wedding ceremony
when a fellow Reds fan who had been outside having a fag, came running in to tell us the Reds
had taken the lead at Anfield. The telly went on and we all cheered when the final score was announced.
The majority of guests were staying overnight in the hotel to avoid drink driving so the win at Liverpool gave
us even more of a reason to celebrate. I didn't get a lot of blood in my alcoholic stream that night and my wife
had to drive us home the next day. I've still got a CD with that game on and regularly watch it.
    Absolutely brilliant.

Massive cock up with ticketing that enabled people who never attend Oakwell to go at the expense of long time season ticket holders.

There were also a few big game only Barnsley 'fans' there. The idea to allow season ticket holders to buy four tickets was fatally flawed. I don't know how anyone at the club failed to see the problem.

To make things worse, Rowing said "we underestimated demand".

Suppose it was an easy mistake to make. Only a cup tie against Liverpool at Anfield.

Surely no one would be bothered?

I can’t renember how they dished em out tbh my memories not all that alately .but if that’s the case it was flawed . All I can remember is phoning around to see who wasn’t working to queue for tickets for us . Days I’m hoping are long gone

I'm still a little bitter about it because I had to watch it on beam back at Oakwell. Like you say those days are hopefully long gone.

I can remember a few sat behind us that hadn't a clue who most of our players were. When Howard scored late on everyone went berserk, but they just stood staring at everyone as if we were all mental.

So you should be. Several people I know said they were getting sorted out by a then member of the academy staff that lives over my way.

I know one lad who bought four tickets and two of them were for people who hadn't seen us since the Ipswich play off final.
