Another club talking about our run of form in complementary fashion, which is great to read.

    Then there’s this..........

I think that's just misinformation rather than a genuine dig - we do have rich owners like them. The difference is we've spent bugger all in comparison and what we have spent has been invested, on the whole, wisely.

I agree. I think it is FFP that is forcing the clubs hand in the transfer market.

Not suggesting it’s a dig. Just someone that’s very wide of the mark with their assumption.

It is. I never thought the club would be ran like this when we were signing Marlon Harewood, Jason Scotland, Rory Delap and the likes. I'm glad it changed tact. It's just a shame that as fans enough of us haven't backed the club and given it that extra revenue in gate receipts to stretch FFP to it's max. I don't think we get maximum out of the results because we don't create enough revenue. That's what I meant by the clubs hand being forced.

It isn’t. The owners aren’t here to splurge money. Conway said so at the offset and they’ve been good to their word.

My point is they couldn't if they wanted to (which they don't) unless the club got into the Premier League.

    It’s not.

The club is allowed to lose nearly £40 million over a rolling 3 years and still be fine with FFP.

I don’t think we’d be anywhere near stretching the ffp rules. When you look at other clubs getting away with spending almost twice their turnover, the rules must be very flimsy indeed.

I don’t think our owners hand is forced by anything. They have a plan and it involves not spending more than turnover, pretty straight forward and maybe even frustrating at times, but it’s working.

Even if we got into the prem and had the big payout, I think they would be very careful, in fact they would see it as an opportunity to bring in even more potential.

Doesn’t come across as particularly malicious to me. Just vastly uninformed. Comments based on nothing, beyond the assumption that billionaire owner = spending spree. If you asked him where we had spent money on players, he wouldn’t have a clue. Ironically, the players we have spent a bit of money on, have had relatively little influence on things.

I’m not saying it’s malicious. Just very wrong saying we mirror them.

I probably should have explained myself better in the OP.

Apart from the fact that we have rich owners (most clubs do) we have nothing in common with Reading.

They have spent the largest chunk of their history in the third tier and when they were acquired by Madjesky were playing in front of 4K crowds.

Bfc 78ish years in 2nd Tier and at the time of our takeover we had an average gate of pushing 14k, so totally different starting points as far as takeovers go.

I’m not too bothered about the comment about our owners waiting to throw money at us, it’s just silliness, probably based on their own experience of club owners, although quite a few people are beginning to link our run with the wealth of our owners, rightly or wrongly.
