Interesting tweet from him last night in response to Matt Hancock saying PL should take a pay cut. This tweet has come after Spurs, Newcastle and Norwich have furloughed staff but yet nothing from the players..
He's talking rubbish. It takes no time at all to announce that you're willing to take a pay cut in order to help others less fortunate, even if the exact details need to be drawn up.
Don't get why it takes two weeks or more. The players shouldn't even have needed telling to do it. Within 1 day through a players WhatsApp group I'm certain the pampered millionaires could have agreed a percentage of their wage for each of them to donate and for it to be back transfered to a club account. All done quickly without it dragging and being negotiated.
I think he's talking cr@p, in fact I know he is. The only thing that will force the players to do the right thing will be public shaming and threats of sanctions from the government. And to compare the challenge of agreeing to a pay cut and sorting out a process to help your colleagues with the challenges facing the government is beyond the pale.
I do think he's wrong about the players, although the PFA have asked their members to not do anything, they can do it off their own backs the overpaid knobheads. He's right about Hancock being absolutely dire about testing. Germany are testing 10 times more people than we are. On current amounts it would take 5 years to test everyone in the UK. Its a fcukking disgrace.
Maybe those keeping the country and the nhs running should swap salaries with footballers for a few weeks hey. We could do fantasy key worker instead too. Points for truck driver miles done, doctor lives saved, assists for ventilators built etc... all tongue in cheek but when it comes down to it the people that do these jobs are often on crap pay compared to footballers kicking a bag of wind about and those footballers rely on them.
And while we're on about it, lets not have any stupid ideas (BBC) about a possible "wages deferral". A deferral is not a pay cut and we're not falling for that one.
I’ll tell you what’s taking time. All their agents working out how they can find tax loopholes, to get round taking a pay cut without it costing them f.cuk all. This lot are going on ‘the list’, with Ashley, Martin, Branson et al
I think if I was going to take a pay cut I’d want the savings going to less fortunate employees at the club and not just saving the owners / share holders a bit of money . Hancock isn’t calling out the multi millionaire and billionaire backers of the Tory party , on the contrary they are lining their backers pockets with contracts to private health care and bail outs that will just go to share holders
I've just been into work and was forloughed in 20minutes, quick run throught with boss, sign some paperwork, bosh done see you when ever
Chris Edwards (@chrisedwardsuk) Tweeted: My SLT will work at school over Easter and have unanimously decided to reject the extra pay and divert it towards a local family business to provide meals for NHS workers at Basingstoke Hopspital. Other staff coming forward to do the same. So proud to lead the #YellowArmy For comparison
This is bang on. Before we start on footballers let’s get all these companies who sponsor the Tories paying tax. Let’s get your Amazon’s & Starbucks paying some. Let’s get whoever owns the Tory propaganda, sun, mail etc paying their proper share too. Hancock’s tried to change the narrative away from how utterly dreadful his party are managing this crisis & unfortunately it seems to be working
Our organisation of 70,000 people has managed to already put in place, execute and complete pay cuts for every single person earning over £70k per year. It took a week.
It doesn’t but the Tories aren’t going after everyone. They’re calling out footballers to get a reaction
Are our PL players just more greedy? Barcelona agreed a 70% wage cut and Juventus agreed not to receive any salary for four months. They did it independently without consulting their union. Our lot won't do anything until that horrible little man at the PFA gives his approval. There's nothing stopping Harry Kane telling Daniel Levy (another horrible little man) I won't take a salary, so donate my wage to a charity. Many charities like St. John's, who are supplementing NHS resources, will run out of funds in six weeks.
You're right, but just because they're being hypocritical ******** doesn't make them wrong on this particular issue.
