Lol. I'd forgotten how bad Struber's dress sense was until I saw that photo. The teenager beenie, the ill-fitting jeans.. goodness me.
I'm in the he was alright camp, kept us up, done an OKish job at NY red bulls, nothing amazing. No offence to him, but, if that's the calibre that Man U are now recruiting, this could get very interesting, by interesting I mean hilarious.
...presumably because you think it's easy to get a team like ours out of the same situation we are now in. Struber saved us from League 1. Do you think Asbaghi will?
I don't know. Nobody does. What I will say though is that this squad is significantly weaker. We have no idea if he will be allowed to bring in his experienced mates like struber did. I doubt there will be behind closed doors games which massively helped the younger lads in strubers team and I doubt cauley Woodrow will have the desire and heart that he had a few years ago either. It's my opinion that struber is the luckiest manager we've had for many years. Everything went for him. I understand that your opinion is different and that's fine. I still had nightmares about ritzy
I find it hard to stand by and see posts slagging off someone who kept us up from the position we were in when Struber took us over. Plus we often played neat and tidy football (if you want to judge on performance) , outplaying the opposition regularly, but having minimal goal threat. Due to a lack of quality up front. Even then he kept us up (if you want to judge on results). Anyway, he's my son, not my dad. He shaves his head, and it's pillocks like you that are ageing him rapidly.
Tbh the home match before lockdown didn't inspire me to believe that we'd stay up. Definitely a plus point keeping us up but nowhere near the impact of Ismael and we were performing poorly at the start of last season.
He deserves his chance juggled oranges with one arm tied behind his back....whilst with us ..who knows what he could have achieved if he'd been given some proper experience....saying that every guy who's either managed or coached us has always asked for some quality experience surrounding the playing staff.... Good luck for the future GS
There's a difference between outplayed and outscored. Unless you simply judge every game on the result.
4 points off safety (due to Wigan's deduction) with 30 games to play. Asbaghi took over 4 points from safety with 29 games to play. It will be interesting how the season plays out and whether the age structure is relaxed again
Yep - we'll see. But Asbaghi has no excuses. You state that this squad is "significantly weaker" than the one Struber inherited. This same squad that (apart from 2 significant players) finished 5th in the Championship last season. As opposed to Struber inheriting a younger group who had come up from League 1. And had started to sink rapidly. Another argument of yours - Woodrow can't be bothered to try anymore. Let's hope our coach can inspire or drop him. In my opinion - and I have been banging on about this for ages - unless we get a proper striker we'll end up even below Peterborough and Derby.
